Food and Wine festival... waiting.... patiently... not!! :)

Can someone explain to me about the party of the senses? I must not understand. . . I thought when you paid for the dinner you got the table too? Is this not true? OK so what does happen at the POTS??

PofS isn't really a sit down dining event - but you could sort of make it into one is you wanted to. Imagine 25-30 serving stations where food and beverages are offered. When you enter the building your given a 'mini tray' and a wine glass. Inside the building are hundreds of small round tables, some sit down, some at bar counter top height that you can just stand at (yet put down your 'tray' and glass). The layout is designed to encourage folks to move around and try the different offerings. It may sound confusing, but once you get the feel of it - it's great!

Overall, DVConvert gave an excellent description of the format of the Party for the Senses. I only think DVConvert overstated the number of tables. There are not hundreds of tables. Yes, there are many small stand-up tables (without stools) and larger sit-down tables (with chairs). They're meant for temporary use, just as one might alternate between standing and sitting at a cocktail party. And they're meant to be shared. There are no servers serving guests at tables at the Party for the Senses.

At all other ticketed F&W Festival events, guests are seated at tables for all or most of the event, with servers bringing food courses, pouring wine, and clearing plates. If there's a reception before dinner, it might be more of a cocktail party format, the the meal itself is table service.

Thank you Horace, I don't readily have a table count handy, however, I would say that over the past 4 years in particular efforts have been made to greatly expand the number of both seats and tables - especially towards the rear of the hall as guests had expressed a desire for more :)

I'll chime in with my experience I believe Oct 8 - after reading the Dis knowing there arent "enough" tables, and having fallen earlier and having a sprained ankle .... I was kinda panicky... dh wasnt... he got into the spirit of the event by doing as Horace and others posted - sample, move on.. he did love the stand up tables to sample, and watch the Cirque performers...

Me - I loved being able to sit down, and I found plenty of empty tables, and an extra chair to put my foot up!!

So, I found in the way back to have several 'empty' tables, around some of the 'not so popular' foods there were 'empty' stand up tables, and dh was always found talking to other people - it really was an event - I do believe as long as you take the attitude of "grazing" and not be like I was "panicky" about a table -

you'lll have that much more fun!!

I agree with Stuck in Wonderland. My DH and I attended last year for the 1st time. We found many people were rude about saving spaces at tables where there were only 2 or 3 people seated. I understand there are people who need for physical reasons to sit the entire time or frequently. The tables we did sit at had very friendy people. You miss out on meeting people from all over and enjoying the information they share.

We must have been really lucky last year. We arrived a little later than when I had hoped and found a huge line to check in. Once they let us in, we had no problem finding a place to sit down. As a matter of fact, we finally gave up the idea of sitting in one area. We circulated the room and sat near whatever color section were were sampling. We never had any problems and always found a seat. The only place where it was crowded was around the stage where Cirque preformed. But we weren't there for the performances, we were there for the food. So not being close to the stage didn't bother us. :confused3 We met a lot of great people and just enjoyed talking to people. I sure hope we have a similar experience this year! :goodvibes

The schedule and prices are out. I just got an email from DDE with the brochure attached in a Acrobat File.

I know! I had talked DH into trying POS this year - I told him it would be about $100 a piece - not sure if he will go for 125 each :sad2:

I think I'll stick with the food samples in World Showcase for $2-$5 each! The Festival events are TOO pricey for me.

DOH!! I'm a beer freak, and I'm going to be there during that time. I'll be on the DDP and already have ADR's for Boma that night with my parents. $145 is a tad steep and I'd have to go alone. BUT ... I'm still very tempted. I have a few days to ponder this one. :confused3

BTW, does anyone have an idea on how many people they allow for this event typically?? That would also be a big deciding factor. The smaller the group, the more it's worth it!

I with ya on that! The ones I was looking at... $195 per person + tax... (x2 for us)... that's a little too steep for me.

However, I'm going to look at the Food & Wine Pairings and might try one or 2. At $40, they aren't as bad...

I have NO IDEA why I did not have my flyer sent to me, as in years past. When did yours arrive? I am in a panic because the 31st is rapidly approaching. I called DD and they were pretty useless as to how to get my hands on the info you readily provided. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! We were too late on several desired seatings last year because we waited. Some we went to were well worth if (Party for the Senses, etc.) and some were not so worth it.

Can anyone give me a review of Brilliant Bubbles? I scrolled down rapidly to see if the Spirited Ball was back. I didn't see it. Did anyone go last year?

Thanks!
