We aren't going to make it this year due to two other trips to the World already planned. However, I want to be sure and make it next year and would like to book my DVC room at BCV just as soon as I can. Any clue what the dates will be based on history? For example, would it be safe to book the very last week in October which includes Oct 24 through Oct 31?

Yes, you would be "safe". The Food and Wine Festival always runs from mid Oct to mid Nov.

Thanks Disneyholic!

Next question: We will be forfeiting our traditional trip the first week of December (holiday decorations!) to do this one. What's the weather like? Also, will the F&W and Halloween festivities be "worth" the forfeit of Christmas activities? I realize only I can make that decision, but for those that have experienced both, can you give me some advantages to going in October?

Last year we managed to be there for the tail end of the F&W AND the decorations were up at the WL already - they were also starting to go all over -- so if you can push it to mid November you might get both - I can't recall the exact dates from last year - but I think it was November - late teens.

Okay. Here's my opinion on October. We went the same week you are planning on. There are no special decorations for Halloween other than for the Mickey's Not So Scary... Pleasure Island had some decorations and some kind of special performers (I forget what tho) for Halloween. Other than that, forget about any special Halloween stuff.

The weather is supposed to be much warmer than in December. We had rain a lot of days but that was due to a hurricane. We still had a lot of fun.

The F&W Festival is the best. That made a big impact in our decision of when to book this trip. If you want to save a bit of money, tho, go at the beginning of November because it turns into value season again whereas October is regular season.

Since I haven't been during Christmas season, I can't compare for you but hope my comments help at least.
