Hi Everyone,

DH and I decide to spend the day at Epcot...and taste around the world, as well as a trip back to Biergarten, for dinner.

We arrive about 12:30... We were able to hit, Spaceship Earth, Test Track, Soarin, and Living with the land... Test Track had the longest wait... 50 minutes. We did stop for a rest, and share a coke... We both need some caffeine and something cold, in ice...

So our last ride was Soarin it was 3:00, when we headed into the world showcase... for our Food and Wine adventure... We shared all the plates... and this is our first trip into food and wine festival this year... We plan at least 3 more trips... Yep we are pass holders...

Our first stop was Canada... wild Mushroom Beef filet Mignon... around $8.00.. the filet we were given was really quite large, and the mushrooms where plentiful.. DH cut it up, and there was quite alot of meat. The steak and mushroom were cooked to perfection... and the flavor was really very tasty... I got an ice wine as well, I think it was 12 dollars... and while very good, its one of my favorite, I felt it was way over priced for the amount you received... While I enjoyed it I am not sure if I would order it again, solely based on the price... The filet portion was more than expected, and is always our top favorite from year to year... I wonder if it will be on top at the end of the festival?...

We stop at the normal Booth in Canada, DH got a Moosehead draft... always a thumbs up for DH... For me a bottle of water... I have to pace myself..

I stopped at a merchandise booth, and asked about passholders merchandise..The lovely CM direct us towards the World Showplace...

The World Showplace was very nicely done, and we were treated to a CM playing the grand paino... and he started with some music from Mary Poppins, very nice addition to the environment....and really nice to see entertainment...

We stopped at a table for DH to finish his beer before we got in line ... in hindsight, the next time we will bring a beer in for him... nothing really appealed to him..

World Showplace -
First set-up as you enter the building on the right... - Kielbasa and potato pierogi, with caramelized onions $ 5 or 6 dollars - the star of the show for this dish was the caramelized onions, they were so delicious, as far as the potato pierogi is was good, the sausage fell short for both of us, why?... you wonder ... it was just sausage, not bad at all, just not what we would have expect,... I will say if you don't have a adventurous eater, I think that this dish would be a good choice for them.
We also went for the Fisherman's Pie - $6.00 This was amazing... It was full of seafood... 2 good size piece of claw meat, 3 or 4 scallop, and some shrimp 4 maybe 5 pieces, along with some veggies, topped with mashed potatoes... the sauce was thick and rich, with just the right amount of heat... Comfort food as its best... This dish is something that we would order again and again..
We decide to share a glass or tenshand Rhone style White Blend - 7.00 - and this was a true pour.. it was just okay for me, and DH really like it...

Then we wandered down to the Mac and Cheese Set-up - DH ordered the lobster mac and cheese, 6.50 and it did not disappoint... by now I just wanted a bite... the Lobster was very tender, and the cream sauce was very good. The Mac and Cheese was the true star in this dish... another comfort food, leveled way up... I liked the spiral pasta which was cooked perfectly... DH and I both agreed, we would have loved a bowl of it... LOL... This is something that we would both order again... as well we got another bottle of water...

So we decided to head out... We really wanted to try the dessert offering... but we knew we had dinner later on... so that goes back on the list for one of our next visit...

We did stop and check out the Passholder merchandise... Which I will say I was impressed with the passholder selections, as well, they do have all the merchandise for the entire festival in the little shopping area... I wanted to think about a couple of items, and at that time we did not want to carry heavy, breakable items around with us..

So we headed over the bridge into France... Oui S'il vous plait - Grand Mariner Orange Slush for me, and a Kronenbourg beer for DH... Merci... we found a bench and did what we love to do... sit, talk and laugh with each other, being present, soaking up the view, and a bit of people watching... then we decide on another round of what is our absolute favorite adult beverages at WDW... So again, Bon jour Monsieur, S'il vous plait Grand Mariner Orange Slush and a Kronenbourg , Merci...

They had a small cavalcade, with Pluto, and Goofy walking, and a model A style car with Mickey and Minnie in the back... they were waving.. another unexpected treat to our evening...

We decided to move at this point.. and so we headed toward a final destination Germany for dinner... We stopped in Moccro and found a lovely bench, with a great water view...

Moving again...

Some how we stopped in Japan, and a Kirin light... was needed by DH... We were going to get some sushi, but decided against it... and decided sit on the wall in front of the Pagoda, and meet a really nice couple, they were enjoying some of the sushi offerings... and lets say that the wasabi got the best of guy, I felt bad... his face was turning red, and it really took his breath away... he said normally when you get sushi like this the wasabi is weak... this is the real deal stuff... we meet another couple who had the cutest shirts, Her's said Spoiled and his said Broke... LOL...

Then we headed to Germany... We did go in and check out the Christmas ornaments, which are always beautiful, I did notice quite a few people in the back doing wine flights. The bakery is open, in one way and out another... and you can not go from the bakery into the area where the Christmas ornaments are, you have to leave either or - then go back through another door..

Biergarten - Our time had arrived... we check in, and were called and seated within 4 or 5 minutes...48.00 dollars each.

We got lucky and the band was playing when we arrived... It was again so nice to see the entertainers.. Our server Robert was so nice, a true gentleman, he told us he started when they opened Biergarten in 1982... We told him we wanted to go at a relaxed pace, which he did so through the whole meal...

DH ordered the large beer, and for Myself a glass of the sweet Riesling, and 2 waters...
the appetizers arrived ... Macaroni Salad, Potato Salad, sliced beets, and tomato and cucumber salad... So lets dive into these offerings.. My favorite was the Macaroni salad, the dressing was really tasty, macaroni cooked perfectly. DH was the potato salad... We both tired the beets and we both really liked them, I found myself going back for one then another... the tomato and cuke salad for us was not successful.. I will say that neither of us really likes this type of preparation.. I did try one of the tomatoes and for me I found them to swimming in a very vinegar dressing... which I know its suppose to be like this, it just not for us... So don't let this sway you from trying it...

Entree platter up next... All I can say is so much food... for just the 2 of us... we did try a little of everything... My favorite was the pork schnitzel, roasted chicken, and the sausage and sauerkraut, and roasted potatoes - the sauerkraut was like what my grandmother made, I like that it wasn't so wet as well it had a back note of sweet to it, which is how my grandmother made it adding in some apples... - DH fav's the Sausages, pork schnitzel, roasted chicken, Mac and Cheese and green beans... I wished there had been more roasted veggies like carrots and brussels sprouts... while it would have been nice it did not take away our enjoyment of the meal... I did feel bad that so much food went to waste... honestly the platter was enough for 4 or 5 adults... you can always get more... I would suggest starting with just one entree platter...

Dessert platter - black forest cake hands down was the star of this platter, the cheese cake was very good, and the berry compote was fresh and sweet and tart which we both like... ... I will say that the apple strudel fell very short... the dough was tough and the apples were not cooked all the way through, I think it was rushed... someone missed stepped here...

Over all a wonderful meal, and just a beautiful day.. and we will be back...

I have never really liked the apple strudel from the Germany pavilion. I had some when we went to Austria that haunts my memories, so I don't think any other strudel will ever do. I so want to try Biergarten. However, DS is the picky child on the face of the planet and would absolutely eat nothing, except may a pretzel roll. Sounds like a great meal.

Enjoyed reading your review! Robert was our server last night as well, lol. Loved his German spirit and stories

We have eaten here many times, and it in the past the apple strudel was really good... Not this time... It really missed the mark... I will say that that the black forest cake made up for it totally... It reminded me a a oversized swiss cake roll, with the added cherries in the middle... it was very good... I would like to see it offered in the German Bakery... it would be a nice addition to the offerings there.

I will say that that they had, traditional hot dogs,( mini size) which were quite tasty as well the mac and cheese, while not orange like typical boxed mac and cheese, you might be able to get him to try it.. as well the chicken was like rotisserie chicken, so that is another option for your picky eater. My DD was very picky as well. She liked the pork schnitzel, we told her it was fried chicken and she was like this is so good... LOL...

The black forest cake isn't bad. I have had better, but it's pretty good. When Sommerfest is open, they sell the black forest cake and strudel to go.

Unfortunately, he doesn't like hot dogs. He has had the mac n cheese and hated it. I thought it was really good though. It pretty much has to be Kraft-style; he usually doesn't like the mac n cheese on property. He hates bone-in chicken; plus, it has herbs and seasoning. Can't have any flavor :sad2: He used to like pork schnitzel; well, at least what he has had in actual Germany. I think he's getting too old now and wouldn't even try it. I can't tell him it's fried chicken, because he doesn't like that either. I am hoping that he quits being so picky; otherwise, when he has his teenage growth spurts (he's 14 now), he's going to starve to death. I don't know where he gets this from, because we aren't like this at all.

@LovesTimone I have a reservation for Biergarten in November. I am a solo traveler. Do you think I will look/feel out of place being alone? My ressie is for 6:50 pm right before the park closes - do you think there will be music happening? Thanks!

Hi, When we arrived the band was playing... then again at 7:00 pm... and I think again at 8:00... even though the park was closing at 8:00, ( I think) so I think that you should be able to enjoy the music, as well the hours might be changing some by November.

Absolutely not.. you will not look out of place, I did notice some smaller tables... Go and enjoy yourself...

I did not know that they sold the Black Forest cake at Sommerfest... Thanks for the tip...

As I said before, DD was picky... and it really became an issue... more like a control thing... So we just told her ( she was around 8 or 9), We are not going to change our plans to accommodate your pickiness, as well we told her that she could eat what I cooked, or she could make a PB and J, this cooking 2 meals or and extra side or whatever she was wanting to accommodate your pickiness stops today...this is not a health related issue. As well as you get older, you will have to be able to deal and figure out how to handle ordering and such, when you are invited to birthday party's, to spend the night at a slumber parties, and once you get old enough to go out with friends, or on a date, and once you are in the work force...the pickiness is your choice... So you will need to figure it out... which she was not to happy about... It was amazing once we held our ground... most of the pickiness stopped...

Loved your review. These are the type of reviews that I like. Gave your likes/dislikes, but more importantly you included some of your dislikes/likes and explained why may not have like one dish.

For example, there is a big difference between traditional American Potato Salad and German Potato Salad. I like both, but I understand why people may not like german potato salad due to its ground mustard, since they are used to traditional American potato salad.

Thanks so much for the kind words... :flower3:

I am very detail oriented type person... So for me everything is in the details... Like you, I like to read reviews that have some details...well really alot of details...

I try to keep in the back of my head what we like or enjoy, may not be what everyone else is going to and vice versa.... I have read many reviews and thought well maybe we should not go here or there, not just at Disney, where-ever... So DH and I decided to try it out at least once... sometimes the reviews are on point... other times I was really happy that we tried it out, and they go on the thumbs up list...

It's funny you mention German Potato Salad...my mom and I were just talking about my Grandmother potato salad... She was brought up German, so when we would have Sunday lunch over there, she always made 2 bowls of potato salad, one German and one Southern style... I never could pick which one, so I always got small scoops of each one... the thing is that the German potato salad was always different... My Granny told me that depending on where you are from meaning region is how you prepare your potato salad... My favorite was the warm potato salad, she made it with red potatoes just quartered and kinda steamed, bacon and onions cooked with a splash of vinegar, she would add in boiled eggs quartered, she made this salad dressing that was just so delicious, it was creamy like mayo based... fold it in, and serve warm... So good... She knew how to make many different kinds as on Sunday when she was a little girl, everyone brought food to the church and had dinner on the ground, with everyone sharing... Pot luck... and the ladies would share recipes...

We are going back at least twice more that I have already booked, Oct 24, and Nov 7... We may go with our neighbor on a Sunday for lunch, I not sure about this yet... I plan on writing my reviews for those 2 trips... I hope you will check it out...

I have eaten there solo. Granted this was pre-C, but it didn't matter. Miss eating there so I am excited to go with the new set-up!
