Is anyone excited about the Food and Wine Festival this year?

Oh, and what dish would you like to see in this years Food and Wine Festival that you liked from last years event?

Mine was the Baked Ziti from Italy. Just the way I remembered it from when I was a kid. My mom used to make it almost exactly the same way.

This is our first time! We have wanted to go in the past but it's in the middle of the semester... well, this year, I'm just skipping class and going! =)

We are giving several days to it, and most of our "dining" will be there.

You guys will have a great time, trust me on this one. just one thing: make sure you bring enough cash. If you want to sample a lot and have the appitite for it, the samples do get a bit pricey when you add it all up.

This is my firth time going to the F&W festival, I love it. I love going to the Australia kiosk, reminds me of my trip down under, you will have a ball

The cheddar cheese soup at Canada was fabulous! I hope they have it again this year. There was also a lobster corn chowder at the American Adventure which was great. I am looking forward to seeing the actual menu in October. I'm less than 50 days away from F&W and MNSSHP.

Being probably the most popular item on the menu at le Cellier, I am sure they'll have the soup this year, and every year. :)

I usually only take two trips around the World Showcase during the Festival. All of the other visits are to food demos and wine tastings.

I am SO excited about the Food and Wine Festival! :dancer: DH and I went last year, but we just went for a long weekend and didn't have time to taste everything.

I think my favorite food was the apple strudel from Germany and chorizo quesadilla from Mexico. I really hope the beef stroganoff from Russia is there this year. I really wanted to try it, but I just never made it over there.

59 days!!!!! :hourglass

The beef stroganoff from Russia is very good-I hope they have it again this year. Also, loved the baked ziti. I am sure there were others that I liked but these two were awesome.

Bring lots of cash? I haven't been in 2 years, but please tell me I can STILL charge it back to my room?

From 2002 in Scandinavia: smoked trout with a honey dill waffle. I had a lot of good food there, but for some reason this was the most memorable. (That could be because I have too much fun pronouncing waffle as "vaffla.")

Credit Cards, Bank Cards, and room charges are accepted.

Whiskey flan at the Ireland kiosk. I ordered them like 3 at a time.

If you're not a vegetarian, do not under any circumstances miss the Australian lambchop.

One of my favorites last year was the Honey Maple Glazed Salmon with pecans from Canada. Ohhhhhh man, that was good stuff.

That together with the cheddar cheese soup, and Canada had two of the very best dishes in the whole festival.

dh and I have talked for years about going to the F&Wine fest. This year he surprised me and booked a five day trip for just the two of us. We are planning on spending every evening in Epcot for dinner - that is our favorite park anyway, so it will be very easy to do. dh is even more excited now that he knows there is a huge beer menu - he likes wine but beer better. I don't drink. Are there any 'fun' drinks that are nonalcoholic offered? We are going from Nov. 7-12th! We haven't told our kids yet - they are going to be so mad that we are going without them....

Momof6, the beer selection is better during F&W Fest but there is nothing served that you couldn't pick up at any decent beer store in NY. The best beer part of the festival is probably the free (rare for Disney, of course) tastings at Rose & Crown and the Sam Adams exhibit. And they do have Lowenbrau Oktoberfest at Germany which is very good (had many last year!)

cdtommie-
dh loves the Oktoberfest beer, too...
How do the free tastings work? dh isn't a big drinker - but I know he was hoping for something different from our NY selection. Since I'm not drinking can I get the 'sample' and give it to him? I don't want to do anything considered 'unethical!'

thanks again for the tips,

I simply can not picture this fabulous event! I have been dying to go for years - actually had to cancel a trip last year the week before we were to go because DH got a new job.

Can someone describe how the World Showcase is set-up? How does one know about all the different events? I just learned on this thread about the free beer, and have done tons of research in anticipation of our long-awaited trip in early October (we were able to combine free dining with Food & Wine!!):drinking:

I am thirsting for as much information as I can get. I tend to be an over-planner in advance (but am easily able to shift at the last minute once there) because I can anticipate the trip for months! :earsgirl:

If you haven't already checked allears, here's a link that will give you some good info on this year's F&WF:

http://allearsnet.com/tp/ep/foodwine.htm

Also, when you enter Epcot, pick up the brochure - it will have lots of info and it's a nice souvenir! World Showcase will have kiosks and exhibits set up all around World Showcase. You'll have so much fun exploring - AND eating and drinking of course!!
