Food allergies

My son has severe allergies (uses an epi-pen) to peanuts and peanut products.

Does Disney provide a listing of ingredients at all their restaurants/counter services? Does anyone know if they are cognizant of the issues around cross-contamination with peanut butter?

My DS has a peanut allergy too. We just ask our waiters and they seemed to be very informative about ingredients and preparation. A couple places even had the chef come out and talk to us about it just to be safe. They do a great job and its really not a problem. In 4 trips since DS was diagnosed we have never had any incidents. Hes not very adventurous with what he eats so that helps, and has only had to skip 1 thing, muffins at Cindys, because those arent made onsite and they werent sure whether or not they would be a risk.

My son also has the deadly peanut allergy....on our last trip we stayed away from buffets....so we wouln't have to ask for each item. At all the sit down restaurants we always asked the waiter to check with the chef for the oils they cook in also. At Emerils when I made the reservation I mentioned the allergy, a chef was at our table to explain to our son which meals he should have. Many use peanut oil in some recipes and vegetable in others. All in all it was absolutely no problem, just like at home always ask, ask and ask again. My son is now 20 I still worry like crazy, 1 nut thats all it takes.

My suggestion is to make PS for all meals eaten out of the room. (We eat brekfast in the room to save$$) When making the PS, tell the person at Disney Dining the allergy, They will note it on the PS and give you the phone number to the kitchen. 1 vweek before you leave, call all restaurants. The chefs will help you with menus. When you get to the restaurant, tell the host about the allergy. The chef will again come out and take you thru the buffet or menu. If there is nothing available, they will make something special. Stay away from 9 Dragons in Epcot. They use peanut oil. Also check out the links below. My son also has a peanut allergy.... I emailed WDW and after one absolutely UNinformative reply.... I got a VERY informative reply. I will still talk to them when I get there, but I feel better knowing they are aware of the problem.
