I am looking for information on ingrediants for CS and snack items. We have always called ahead to TS places and had food made for our son that was safe for him. That has always worked well for us. We normally drive up, and so I just bring food for him outside of the TS meals, but this time we will fly and I was hopeing to be able to feed him without bringing so much from home.

I was wondering if there is anyone to contact regarding ingrediants in the parks at at our resort (Pop Century).

My son is alergic to all dairy and tree nuts.

not at just Pop - but this lady for the entire property

Brenda Bennett [Brenda.Bennett@disney.com] MAGIC KINGDOM Foods 407-824-5967.

My DS is all dairy and tree nuts.

All fries are safe...none done in peanut oil. We had no problems with burgers (meat) from any CS. We ordered bun free, since hte bread comes from different vendors, and they didn't have wrappers with ingredients.

The itzakadoozie popsicles are dairy free and separately wrapped.

Dole Whip DOES have dairy. The people who work there don't think it does because it's lactose free. But it has sodium caseinate.

The place to exercise the most caution is in the world showcase eateries. Not all of the servers speak english, and they are not disney owned.

Pop has Van's waffles - my dd had them in May. Definitely call Brenda Bennett - you'll get a ton of info from her.

does anyone know what oil the fries are fried in? this would be a great treat formy son who has lots of food allergies- including soy and corn and gluten.

thanks!

My latest email from Brenda Bennet says about the fries:
Fries are from J.R. Simplot Co.* Boise, Idaho 1-800-572-7783* Potatoes, partially hydrogenated vegetable shortening (soybean oil and/or canola oil), maltodextrin, salt, dextrose, disodium dihydrogen pyrophosphate and tetrasodium pyrophosphate (to maintain natural color

Oil for frying - Bunge - Partially hydrogenated soybean oil with TBHQ and citric acid added to help protect flavor, dimethylpolysiloxane, an antifoaming agent, added. (Parve)

Note that it also says Cosmic Ray's no longer uses a dedicated fryer for their fries (but has an oven available for non-fried fries)

Interesting. This must be fairly new, because as of a year ago they were only using pure canola oil. Makes me nervous as to what else has changed... :sad2:

Does anyone know if the buns on the burgers have sesame seeds.

Posted just in case someone could use this information. I tested positive to three foods, was told that the almond (tree nut) is more important to stay away from than the watermelon & cucumbers. Imagine that most salads will always come with cucumbers :( But when we ate at the Rose & Crown I was pleasantly surprised to see that at the podium the Cast Member had asked ahead if I had any allergies. I told her what they were, she noted them down but also said that whatever I had ordered would be double checked with the chef to make sure I wasn't getting something I shouldn't. I thought that was great!!!

you can have a salads with nothing but the lettuce - just ask. I am also allergic to lots of vegetables and must avoid all melons.

I believe all CS places have an ingredient book on hand. Our last trip to WDW was in Dec '05. At every CS place I went to, I would ask for a manager. The manager would get the ingredient book and go over it with me before I placed my order.

My family will be ding WDW resort vactions for the first time come December. My son is Autistic and has severe sensory dysfunction/ t5exture issues. He eats ONLY chocolate pudding, thick and creamy strawberry banana yogurt and chocolate whips yougurt and drinks ONLY chocolate milk. Does anyone know if any of this is sold in WDW? We paid for the MYW plus dining and are paying for him to eat, however he will be eating NONE of the food provided. Does anyone know if I can request for his items to be available for him since I am paying full kid price for him to come in the resturaunts and sit. Thanks so much! Jessica

you can always (and should) request....they may or may not be able to help you. but with sufficient notice, i bet they'll do their best to get your son what he needs. i'm guessing you'll have better luck at the table service restaurants. i used to have a list of all the phone numbers (for each park), but i'm sure brenda (MK) can give you any numbers you need. ask to talk with a chef from each restaurant where you have an ADR. just explain his needs and see if they can help. i've spoken with chefs who've had access to pulling ingredients from other restaurants. :goodvibes

I got an email reply from Brenda's assistant and a phone call as well (which I missed, but got a call back number for Monday). Turns out Brenda was on vacation (I posted to another thread I was frustrated at getting no response).

The information I was sent was helpful, but there aren't many choices when you have both a nut and a milk allergy.

All four parks have hot dogs and hamburgers with no fillers. All buns have dairy in them. There is at least one place in each park with Rice Dream and/or Soy 'ice cream' normally avaliable.

All four parks have a location with this:
Discover Island – Beastly Bazaar

NEW Gluten-Free Brownie
from GLP Free Manufacturing Corp.

Gluten/Wheat, Dairy, Peanut and Tree Nut Free I am so excited by this, Max will have a second dessert choice now :) I always bring a few homemade things with us, so he doesn't feel left out. But he loves it when he can buy a food 'off the shelf' because it is such a rare thing for him.

Also thought I would mention the documents I was sent say Cosmic Rays has a dedicated fryer for fries. Maybe they added it back, I will double check that when I call.

Another thing- Tusker House fries ARE NOT SAFE- I think this is one of the only exceptions for fries so it was worth pointing out. They may contain peanut oil or other allergins.

Last of all, please never rely on information posted on these boards or from a prior trip. Always ask for the updated lists.

Since I don't think this is anywhere on this thread I thought I would put it here, email here for starters, they will help you out and give you phone numbers too. Give yourself at least a few weeks to plan it all out, they are very busy and it can take a week or so to hear back sometimes.

When we went last summer ds who was & still is allergic to all dairy, beef, peanut & partially eggs did fine.

I did however bring some food from home.

I mainly brought breakfast foods so he & we could eat that much quicker in our room vs going out every day.

I did ship the items though.

I also brought snacks too.

I have to agree that Brenda is the best & she deserves 5 stars!

Oh & the Chef at Chef Mickey's (I forget his name but he had an accent), I talked to him on the phone prior to going & I met him.

It did make my mind at ease after that first night eating at CM knowing that my ds would be safe for the trip.

Yes, I took the advise of the others with this one and sent an email to Brenda. She replied and said she would contact the resort and make sure they would have plenty of yogurt, chocolate pudding, and chocolate milk on hand for my son as well as contacting the resturaunts we already have reservations at to make sure they will have the stuff for him as well. She also told me where throughout the park to get chocolate milk and the few places that do offer chocolate pudding in the park. Thanks so much to all! J

I have never had much luck with counter service foods at WDW. I did find that most places did have a cast member who could get "The book" for me. A few places I talked with someone who said something was "safe" then when I ordered it found it wasn't (then was scolded by the chief for not talking to him 1st.) I must admit I was new to the whole food allergies scene and was so sick of bothering people who had no idea what was in the food instead of just being able to eat.

DD (2 years old) is allergic to eggs and milk so they can be pretty hidden (but not nuts or soy thank God.) I am hoping and praying that maybe by the time we go to WDW next (Jan 2007) she will have outgrown it, or at least minor amounts.

I found WS in Epcot the worst though. We can't find anything safe for DD there (and me at the time since I was breast feeding.) I agree with the poster who said many of the CM don't know and can't communicate well enough to help with the issue.

I tried to email Brenda once, but the email address I had wasn't working.

I am going to keep this one and subscribe so I can find it later just in case she hasn't outgrown it (I think that is wishful thinking, but maybe the DCL trip in May 2007 :rolleyes1 )

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU all for this wonderful info. that's posted on this thread. I think the link to Brenda will be especially helpful. November will be our first trip to WDW and I've been stressing out about food options for my family. My husband and daughter have EXTENSIVE lists of food allergies and I am so glad to find out that they might ACTUALLY be able to eat food while we're in the park. (Julia's especially looking forward to the Princess breakfast, but can't eat anything that's on the menu... but there's HOPE now!! :yay: ) again, thank you thank you. I'm definitely going to be checking this thread for more helpful info.
