Food allergies & My 1 yr. old

Hey everyone!

We just found out that my 7 mo. old DD is allergic to milk and soy. I am still nursing and will probably do so until she is about 1. My question is, we are going to Disney for Thanksgivng and she will be 13 mo. I know we are not paying for her but will the restaurants still accomodate her allergies, or will I need to bring all of her food with me?

The other thing is, on the off chance I am still nursing and still having to avoid milk and soy in my diet as well, how hard is it to deal with these allergies at the restaurants?

Well, when my grandson was diagnosed as lactose intolerant, I said that we would have to be careful if we took him to Disney World. My daughter-in-law, who is very cautious when it comes to her children, just said "ah, Disney will take care of it, don't worry about it".

my friend went when she was nursing and had no problems at table service restaurants with her son.

My mom has sulfa allergies, so has very intricate food needs. All of the restaurants at Disney were great. A few of the chefs came out to discuss how they would prepare her meals. So I don't think you will have any issues from an allergy standpoint.

My daughter has Celaic so she can't have anything with Wheat, Rye , Barley, malt or Oats and because of this she is lactose intolerant. She went to WDW with her aunts back in March for the 1st time since being dx'd. I was worried but WDw was WONDERFUL! Not one problem at all! She said all the restaurants were wonderful and even had special bread waiting at her table for just her.

They are so wonderful in fact that when I made reservations for MVMCP I was told that they have hot coco and cookies out for every one which is something my daughter couldn't have unless it was gluten free. So I asked if there is anything they could do for her and they had me cal food services at MK and the woman I talked to was amazing she told us to go to the main street bakery and tell them about her situation and she will get special cookies and hot cocoa that is just for her!

So I can't wait to go back in November to see for myself how great they were!

My 8 year old daughter is allergic to soy. UGH. It is NOT a good allergy to have. The oil is supposed to be ok, but for my little one, it is awful. She doesn't react well to it at all. Not good. So fried things are out.

I e-mailed Disney about it and found out that all restaurants in the parks and in the resorts use Canola oil to fry in. So, things like chicken nuggets are ok.

Thank you all so much for your replies. I've always heard WDW was the place to vacation if you are dealing with food allergies, I just never thought we'd have to deal with it.

One of the biggest concerns I have, is since my dd is only going to be one and we aren't paying for her, can I still request special foods?

If you request special food for her you will need to pay for her meals. (1 or 2 places may give them free as a courtesy but I would not plan on that. The "kids under 3 eat free" is a little deceiving...she is free to share your meal, not to get her own meal OR you can order the special foods as your meal and then share with her. Childrens meals are priced so reasonably I would just plan to order and pay for her food so that you can enjoy whatever you want from the adult menu. At the buffets where under 3 are truly free you can request specially cooked meals and expect not to be charged for her.
