Does anyone have a phone number or email to someone at DL that I can contact about food allergies? I have the WDW one, but can't seem to find one for DL.

From http://disneyland.disney.go.com/plan/guest-services/special-dietary-requests/

Walt Disney Parks and Resorts will use reasonable efforts to prevent the introduction of the allergen of concern into the food through close attention during our sourcing, preparation and handling processes. However, it is ultimately up to the Guest to use his or her individual discretion to make an informed choice regarding whether to order any particular items. Walt Disney Parks and Resorts cannot guarantee that allergens may not have been introduced during another stage of the food chain process or, even inadvertently, during preparation. We do not have separate kitchens to prepare allergen-free items or separate dining areas for Guests with allergies or intolerances.

Guests with food allergies or intolerances are allowed to bring food items into any Disney theme park. Please inform the Security Cast Member at bag check that someone in the party has a food allergy or intolerance.

For Guests staying at a Disney Resort who have items that need to be refrigerated, they should ask the Front Desk Cast Member to have a refrigerator placed in the room. There may be a charge for the use of the refrigerator.

Cast Members are prohibited from storing, preparing, cooking or reheating any food brought into our Resorts or theme parks by Guests.

Phone Reservations

When making a reservation, please inform the reservation Cast Member of the food allergy or intolerance and they will notate the food allergy or intolerance on the reservation. You can make a reservation by calling (714) 781-DINE or (714) 781-3463. Guests under age 18 must have parent or guardian permission to call.

We recommend Guests plan ahead, as many meal times at popular Disneyland Resort restaurants book quickly. Reservations are accepted 60 days in advance at Disneyland Resort.

If you do not have a reservation, we are happy to discuss and attempt to accommodate food allergy or intolerance requirements. Guests should ask to speak to a chef or a manager upon arrival to discuss the specific dietary need.

Table-Service Locations

Table-service restaurants that accept reservations at Disneyland Resort can accommodate most food allergies or intolerances.

Common Food Allergies

Included on the list of common food allergies are:

Gluten or wheat
Shellfish
Soy
Lactose or dairy
Peanuts
Tree nuts
Fish
Eggs
Corn

Guests should notate these food allergies and intolerances at the time of booking their dining reservation. Guests are also welcome to speak to a chef or a manager on duty when arriving at the dining location.

Most restaurants offer no sugar added, low fat, low sodium or vegetarian options. Advance arrangements are not necessary for guests with lifestyle dietary requests. Guests can discuss this with their server upon arrival at the restaurant.

Metabolic Disorders/Multiple Allergies

Guests with requests associated with the list below should contact the Disneyland Resort DLRspecialdiets@email.disney.com at least 14 days prior to arrival and after booking all dining arrangements for the entire visit:

Allergy or intolerance not listed above under Common Food Allergies
PKU
Metabolic disorders
A single guest with multiple allergies/intolerances or multiple guests with allergies/intolerances within the same party

The restaurants will do their best to accommodate guest dietary requirements, but cannot guarantee they will be able to meet all requests.

We just got back with our son who has multiple allergies. Mainly he ate grilled chicken, rice noodles with marinara sauce or a burger with gluten free bun.

His allergies include: dairy, gluten, pork, pineapple, tree nuts and peanuts, shellfish, codfish...and we have to avoid garlic and onion but not eliminate entirely. He did not hae one reaction. The chefs came out and spoke with us each and every time...his food was brought out separate when we were at the counter service restaurants. It had to be on a separate tray than the gluten filled items.

I posted in May about multiple allergies: if you do a search you will be able to find the wonderful people who helped me.

They have gluten free buns? I have got to tell DD(16). She'll be so happy. She really likes the gluten free pizzas at Red Rockets Pizza Port.

Here is a link to a Disneyland Food Blog regarding gluten free foods at the parks and a list of what restaurant offer them. When you arrive at Disneyland you can go to City Hall and ask for the current list of gluten free foods. (The list in the link is current as of now). :)

Thank you. We are just doing counter service restaurants, and the last time we went not every place seemed prepared for food allergies like they are at WDW. WDW is awesome with food allergies!

Oh, this is so helpful! Thank you! My DH was just diagnosed with celiac disease this week and we have been trying to figure that into our upcoming trip.

Thank you for the information. My DD has gotten the packet from City Hall when she went with some friends (when did she get old enough to take off to DL without us and go with just friends?). I haven't had the chance to look at it myself.

But still, it is good information for me to know when I plan our Disneyland vacations and/or suggest where we can eat. Again thanks for the link and info.

I've had a lot of good experiences eating gluten free at Disneyland! Storytellers at the Grand Californian is probably the best. They are very helpful and have delicious substitutes. Ariel's Grotto at California Adventure has wonderful GF food. Unfortunately, Blue Bayou seemed to the be the worst and least accommodating. I can't foresee going back there. The mexican place at Disneyland was also very accommodating and it was good. And don't forget a Dole Whip outside the Tiki Room, which is non dairy and gluten free!

Do the gluten free buns and pizzas have egg or dairy in them? Thanks!

Nancy: We ate at Hungry Bear restaurant and Taste Pilot where my son had the gluten free burgers. I am sure they use the same buns and yes it does contain egg...the chef at Taste Pilot's asked me specifically if my son was allowed to have egg because some people combine dairy and egg together.

Bummer. Thanks for the info, though. It helps me plan ahead. :)

Here is the information that I have been sent by Disney Dining when inquiring about Vegetarian options for a member of our party at Carthay Circle:

For special dietary needs, please send an e-mail to
DLR.Special.Diets@disney.com. All restaurants, including the new Carthay
Circle restaurant can accomodate any type of restriction and will
individually prepare menu items.

Please include the location(s) at which you'll be dining, as well as the
date and time of your booking(s). Be sure to include detailed notes for
the chef. A member of the culinary team will respond back to you as soon
as possible.

No allergy here, but I won't eat anything made with mayo or combo of oil/vinegar/eggs. At counter service restaurants just ask them for their allergy info list and they'll hand you a laminated list that details the ingredients in every dish including sides and dressings/sauces (they have one at each order stand.) Love this as I don't have to rely on staff knowledge or waste their time [running to the back to check for me].

thanks, this is great to know.

Does anyone know if te dessert boxes for Fantasmic have any desserts in them with tree nuts in the desserts? I am allergic to tree nuts andcwe have a reservation fr the fantasmic dessert package next Tuesday.

Just chiming in to say that while the Dole Whips may be classified as "non-dairy," I believe it's in the same way that coffee creamer is classified as "non-dairy" - they contain some but not all milk proteins (they may contain casien but not whey, or vice versa). In other words, if you have a dairy allergy, you'll likely react to the dole whips. :(

Also, if you email DL about allergies, make sure you follow up and send them a list of your dining reservations and times once they are made. Then follow up again, right before you get there.

I emailed DL multiple times re: my son's allergies, complete with a list of the dining reservations we made for every single meal. When we arrived, some restaurants were prepared with safe food for my son, some were not. It was disappointing, especially when we had to get food brought over from another restaurant because the Celebration Roundup BBQ literally had NOTHING that didn't contain some combination dairy, soy or poultry. This despite all my planning and emailing ahead.

So, my recommendation is to email ahead, email again, and again, and again, and maybe even call right before you go. :thumbsup2
