We love foods that are bit different from the average hamburg and fries. We were considering Ohana's and Boma on an upcoming trip. I have allergies to sesame, tree nuts and peanuts. Would it be hard to eat at these places since the food is already pre-made. I worry that the food they bring to the table at Ohana's might have things I'm allergic too and the things on Boma's buffet won't be clearly labelled.

Any thoughts??? Thanks!!

You make them aware of your allergies when you arrive (or put on your reservation) and they will prepare food specifically for you.

My parents usually do the deluxe dining plan so they eat at many TS restaurants. At every one, the chef has come to the table to discuss options and then brought special food out for my dad to eat.

At the buffets, they walk him through what he can and cannot eat and then also offer to bring him alternative foods directly to the table. (Like prepare something he really enjoys without one ingredient so he can eat it)

They have eaten at Boma and Ohana on every trip, so I am certain they will be accommodating.

Most of 'Ohana's core menu involves peanut or sesame. They have allergy options, that are prepared using full allergy protocols. But it depends on your sensitivity. There is peanut and sesame all around you.

If the attraction of 'Ohana is the menu, having peanut and sesame allergies means you won't get the menu.

I've developed these allergies in my 40's and luckily it hasn't risen to the point that I need to carry an epi pen with me - so being around allergic ingredients won't be a problem - but yeah - that's exactly what I thought about Ohana's menu - a lot of peanuts and sesame - sighhhhh. Still its nice to know that I can eat there! thanks for the replies!

DS has dairy, egg, sesame, peanut and tree nut allergies and ate well at both. There is a peanut sauce I think, but we didn't have that brought to our table. Most of the meats were fine, one had dairy I think so that was harder.

Boma, food was brought from the back. He's 3, (or was 2 at the time) so we went for more basic food. (I just looked at his photo from that night and he had pasta, a bunch of the meats, rice, fruit, peas and corn). That was all the kid thing though. I walked through the buffet and then food was brought from back. (he's extremely allergic and very sensitive).

My mother is a vegetarian allergic to nuts and shellfish and she was fine at both restaurants. I noted the allergies in the reservations and we let our servers know right away. At ohana they customized her meal and as they brought food to the table would notify her of what foods contained nuts. Shrimp was pretty evident.
At Boma I think she was just given suggestions as to what to avoid and what dishes were best for her.

One time at 'Ohanas we witnessed a family with an allergic child getting personal attention from the head chef. One of things that makes Disney special is the way they accommodate guests :)

We ate at Boma recently and they had a hand out at the check in desk about allergies and what to eat. I know that you can also talk to the chef.

We ate at Ohana with several people who had allergies and the staff was wonderful to them. I don't know about peanut allergies but they will help you. We went with our friend who is a vegan and she had great food.

I have family members with food allergies and Disney is wonderful! We do all meals TS including buffets such as Boma and even dinner shows SOA and HDDR.
