I must eat VERY VERY low fat and little to NO sugar on our upcoming trip due to a health issue (Dr. orders). We are not doing any table service meals this trip except Shulas. I know I can order a filet steak there and a salad. I am worried about all the quick service options. We usually do mainly table service meals at disney but this trip the kids and my hubby want to do quick service so what are your favorite quick service options that are low fat. The sugar is not hard because sweets are not my favorite. We will visit all 4 parks and we are staying at art of animation family suite. I will take oatmeal to microwave for my breakfast each morning so I just need lunch and dinner ideas in the parks. We have Be our guest for lunch our first day and I was able to find nutritional information for this meal but not the other quick service places.

I want to recommend that you contact special diets and see what (if any) info they can give you on this. I almost wonder if your safest options might be to go for the chicken caesar salads and bring your own mix of seasoning or a packet of dressing you can have.
I would expect that you would speak to the manager at each location the way you would for an allergy and they will likely have to prepare you something special. Disney CS has a lot of processed foods which are often surprisingly high in sugar as well as fat. (you might run into rolls that are nearly as bad as the dessert) Most people in the US have no idea how much sugar they really eat.

What do you typically eat at home? I'm trying to imagine foods that are both extremely low fat and also sugar free and all I can come up with is extremely lean proteins like fish and white meat chicken. Of course by NO sugar I'm assuming you mean extremely low carb since your body converts carbs to sugar but then again that makes no sense since you're talking about oatmeal for breakfast, and microwavable oatmeal at that so not something like steel cut oats. Understanding what you eat at home will help us to offer suggestions to you for what you can find to eat at WDW.

At home I eat fish and skinless chicken, turkey, lean beef etc. I eat steel cut oatmeal each morning with fruit so I am making it ahead of time and will bring it in microwavable bowls and keep in the fridge ( I do this at home too, make a big batch on the weekend and then reheat all week). I can have baked sweet potatoes but only once per day so I am baking some ahead of time to have as snacks, plus I like them cold (my kids say that is weird). I can have some carbs but just small amounts and not at night, doctor wants carbs in the morning and lunch only. I am thinking the baked chicken at sunshine seasons will be ok. Magic kingdom I can get baked chicken at cosmic rays, I can remove the skin. I don't know about AK or HS. I really hate eating like this at disney because I really just want to enjoy but for the next 6 months I have to do this to try to get my trig. down below 500.

Thank you all for your advice.

Wow! I'm surprised he didn't go ahead with medication. Those triglycerides are stroke city. Of course, changing your diet is paramount but at that extreme level most doctors would recommend meds, too.

Three years ago my trigs were 485. My doctor nearly had a.heart attack! She insisted that I start medication that specifically targets triglyceride, in addition to diet. Although I have not been able to adhere strictly to the diet, my trigs are now 117. I am the only person in my family who has any problems with my lipids, so my doctor thinks it is probably some flukey congenital thing.

I'm surprised that your doctor would have you go on a temporary diet that can't possibly be sustained long term for something like this.

Here's what I can think of that's QS. I don't know the actual fat contents since I don't know if poultry's injected with oil or butter or fish is cooked in oil or butter but it's the best I can think of. Hopefully others will have other ideas as well.

MK: Rotisserie chicken at CR, baked sweet potato at the cart in Liberty Square beside CHH, they have grilled salmon with steamed broccoli at CHH, and there might be something at BOG and they do have nutritional info there so take a look online

Epcot: Sunshine Seasons has several proteins at the grill station. The chicken and the salmon (assuming it's not to high in fat for you) would be good choices. I believe they have some steamed vegetables there that you can get with it.

AK: At FTBBQ they have a rotisserie chicken. At Restaurantosaurus I think they have a grilled vegetable sandwich that you can get without the bread (it might not be on the menu but it's available for vegetarians) or they have a grilled chicken sandwich that you could get without the bun.

DHS: I really don't have a good suggestion here because I don't eat CS here; I always eat TS. Maybe Fairfax Fair has something? It looks like they've got rotisserie chicken. ABC Commissary has asian salads with either chicken or salmon. If you got it without dressing and I guess asked what else is in it so they can leave out anything that doesn't work for you then that could be an option as well (from the website it looks like they toss the salad when it's ordered which means you've got flexibility in what they put in it).

Thank you so much. My doctor said if this diet works at dropping my numbers after 6 months or so I can then add some fat back in slowly like 1 day a week until we see just what my body does, but sugar is pretty much out. I am blessed to not like to drink alcohol because he said that is the worst thing you can do to your tryg. number.

Quick service will do the best they can for you but the park locations mostly don't have full kitchens and many ingredients. Like Cosmic Rays you can get a rotiss chicken but it's not plain white meat chicken; it's pretty greasy. They can get you green beans with no butter or oil but you will wait at least 30 mins past when your family is served. Sunshine seasons is usually good because they do carry many ingredients and have decent chefs not just people used to heating up a few particular packaged foods like most park quick service places. But they do marinate the grilled meats in sugar. Most resort quick services are much better at making items for specific diets because they stock a wider range of foods and have full kitchens. Even things like the grilled chicken they use on salads for quick service is usually marinated in oil and has sugar. This is usually not prepared on site so it comes the way it does and they can't make it another way. Bringing a snack to the park and eating simple things like carrots, celery, plain salad is probably going to be your best bet if you intend to stick to your diet 100% and then eat a full meal back at your resort. If it is possible to add more TS this trip I think it would be much better though. There its easy to get some plain grilled or baked protein and some simple veggies.
