Folklore.

For my writing class we're supposed to collect as many different folklore stories as possible.

Folklore includes superstitions (black cat/Friday the 13th), home remedies (If you put a bar of soap on your stomach while you sleep, it will relieve cramps), predictions (My big toe hurts today so it will be rainy).

Could you guys help me out? Do you or your family members have any good 'folklore' to share? I'm asking everyone I now.

Omg the Jersey Devil has always scared the crap outta me.

Well, Jenny, if you wanna use me as a prediction I can help. I can tell whenever it's 40 degrees or below. Or if it's raining, overcast, or snowing. My feet throb at night if it's <40 degrees fahrenheit. My knee also shakes and rattles so I can tell if it's going to snow or rain.

If Old Wives' Tales count, I know of some :
- You'll have bad heartburn during pregnancy if your child has hair while in the womb.
- A teaspoonful of honey can help with allergies.
- Not digesting before swimming will make you puke.
- An apple a day keeps the doctor away.
- Carrots improve eyesight.
- Hanging out in the cold while wet will give you a cold.
- Cracking your knuckle will give you arthritis.
- You have to hold your breath while driving by a cemetery or you'll breathe in the spirit of someone who was buried there.
- Life your feet over train tracks and bridges or else you'll get bad luck.
- If you're pregnant with a boy, you're stomach is pointy. If you're pregnant with a girl, you're stomach is round. (Although that one is kinda true, from what I've seen myself)

-If you drop a knife your not allowed to pick iy up, someone else has to or its bad luck....its a weird thing thats been in my family for quite along time.

There's quite a few folklore things I know (I have a huge interest in it) but my mind just went blank if I remember any I'll post them
