Folding a fitted sheet

Seriously How are you supposed to fold a fitted sheet?
Mine always just ends up rolled in a ball!

I lay it down on the living room floor, fold the corners, and fold it as square as I can. For whatever reason, DH is capable of folding it perfectly.

I fold mine in half, tuck the corners into each other and fold in half again so all the corners are inside each other, square it off as best as I can and fold into a small square. I then take the pillow cases put those on top and wrap them all into the flat sheet and store them that way. It keeps everything together nicely.

I used to take the time to try & fold it just so, so that it was neat & precise. But that was then & now I just fold it pretty quickly & it comes out about the same way. You can mash it down & stick it in a closet & you're all set.
No one's going to see it but your family, maybe not even them if they don't go in that closet much.

Tuck your hands in two of the "pockets" on one end, then grasp the other two "pockets" and over lap them. Pinch the corners w/ pockets and shake, then fold in half, holding the corners. Fold the corners down to make a rectangle and continue folding from there.

There was a sitcom in the 90s called "The Mommies" with Julia Duffy playing the perfect mom who could fold fitted sheets. I distinctly remember refusing to ball up my sheets anymore after that episode.

I can't fold them either. I used to bring them to a Chinese laundry. They would fold the sheets perfectly, and it didn't cost too much either. But they don't seem to have those stores anymore. I know Martha Stewart had the instructions in a magazine years ago on how to fold a fitted sheet. But then again, I can't do anything Martha Stewart can do.

I am ashamed to say that I too roll it in a ball and toss it in the linen closet. I usually slam the door really quick because I tend to miss the top shelf and half the time it falls off. I figure whoever opens the closet next can put it back!

You find the "corner point" of 2 edges- turn one inside out and shove that point into the other point. the edge just sort of forms. Do on the other side- then just fold like a flat sheet.

She makes it seem hard but really once you do it one time it's super simple.

I second Java's reply. I have been using Martha Stewart's method since I saw it in the magazine....and I am no Martha Stewart! It really is easier that it looks!

I second Java's reply. I have been using Martha Stewart's method since I saw it in the magazine....and I am no Martha Stewart! It really is easier that it looks!

Me, too!! That Martha, she knows a few things about housekeeping, doesn't she? I wish she would come and clean my house for me...

Not to hijack the thread, but another useful sheet tip:

To avoid a tangled, damp mess of sheets coming out of your dryer, do a quick (perfection not required) fold of the wet sheets before you put them in the dryer. They end up unfolded but dry every time. Just had to share!

Me too ! I just asked DH to fold a fitted sheet for me today, he said "It's one of my special talents" I said "well it's not one of mine"

Ya I pretty much roll it up in a ball. LOL I do know how to fold them I just don't like to.

Its easy:
1. place sheet on floor
2. Remove cat from sheet
3. try the martha method
4. get mad, remove cat AGAIN
5. pull corners together
6. sit on it till its flat.
7. Shove sheet and flat sheet in the matching pillow case.
8. open closet
9. cram half the stuff back in closet, throw pillowcase ball at the top.
10. Open closet and remove cat
11. shove stuff back in.
12. Try to take a nap since your tired, give up due to cat taking over bed.
