I was looking at websites and saw some fold up ECVs. Does anyone have experience with these? Do many models fold up? My father in law may need one for the resort as well as the park, but he would be fine to get out of it and walk onto the bus. So can we fold up an ECV and carry it onto a bus like a stroller? Thanks!

The one that I have would actually work quite well for that-- it has wheels that and handholds that allow you roll it when it is folded up and it is made to stand upright when folded. It is somewhat heavy so you would probably still want to be able to take it up the ramp on to the bus-- not sure how that would work with a lift though. You could carry it up the steps if you really needed to.

However it is a pretty expensive model. I was very lucky to get it as a resale at a very good price. http://www.rascalscooters.com/index.cfm/mobility/products.detail/scooter/Fold-and-Go®-370/id/15

The other question though, would be if the Disney would allow this. Usually scooters are tied down for their protection and that of the people on the bus. A folded scooter is much heavier than a folded stroller and in case of an accident could do a lot more damage.

The only scooter that I know of that you could do that with would be a Travelscoot they can be folded into a small carry bag and with the small lithium battery they only weight 36 pounds. There are a few drawbacks no reverse no on off switch it's designed for people that have some mobility you need to push it back with your feet if you need to back up. I plan to get one when I can.

The specifications for the one in lovetoscrap's link weight 88 pounds. That is not designed for carrying up the steps of a bus. And most of the travel ECVs weigh about 100 pounds. However, one the battery pack and seat are removed they really are not a problem.
