Has anybody been to this Brazilian Steak house. I'm thinking of taking dh there for his bday meal. He loves steak. I probably won't eat my money worth. Right now I'm trying to get a weekend lunch ressie with no luck.

I went to one in San Antonio about a year ago. I'm not sure if there is more than one location. It was AMAZINGLY delicious. The different cuts of meat are all excellent (not just steak BTW) and you will find plenty of delicious food at the "salad" bar (while they call it a salad bar it is unlike any typical salad bar and has many delicious side dishes). They also bring some very tasty side dishes to the table. The eye candy is also not too shabby :rotfl:

I travel with a group of colleagues every year and we look for a Brazilian steakhouse in each city that we go to. We love them!

you will love it. a proteinfeast.

Well I go to the one in downtown Chicago and it's fantastic.

I would highly recommend you skip lunch on the day you go :thumbsup2

I recently went to the Fogo de Chao in Philly for a business dinner and it was fabulous!! Your DH will love it if he's a big meat eater. They have a menu card on the table that shows photos & describes everything they serve. If you are waiting for or looking for a particular item, just tell your waiter/waitress & they'll send a server with that item right over to your table!

I waited til I was nearly full before I tried their rolls and am glad I did because had I tried them earlier in the meal, I would have devoured an entire basket of them! They are like pop-overs and slightly cheesy and so very good! very light & fluffy. Also, if you like limeade be sure to try theirs! It's like no other limeade I've ever tried and it's one of their 'free refills' drinks, which was a pleasant surprise (even though I was able to expense my dinner on my company).

Hope you enjoy it!!!

My DD's been to the one in DC and says it's the best of all of those types of restaurants she's been to (we also have a Texas De Brazil here). It is meatfest but men generally love it.

The one in Philly is delicious. The parking in the area is bit tricky. We wind up taking Patco--getting off at 15/16th and walking.

The meats were wonderful.. lamb, steak, chicken, seafood. Beleive it or not the salad bar was so delicious and certainly NOT a lower tier salad bar.

The salad area has asparagus, brie cheese, artichokes, and fabulous fruit. (Plus all other salad items) Side items they give you are also great.

Be sure to arrive hungry--seriously-- don't eat all day until you get there. Waitstaff gives you a little disk -coaster sized- that is green on one side and red on the other. Green means give me all the meat you can. Red is stop-- I'm ready to burst.

Fogo does lunch as well, which is slightly cheaper. However, I don't think they do lunch on weekends. I thought it was only a Monday to Friday thing.

Theres another restaurant very similar we've been meaning to try: Chima Steakhouse at 19th and JFK. Chima has a similar menu- but one or two more seafood dishes. Chima also offers coupons on restaurant. com

Just checked the hours for the one in Philly.

Openn Mon-Thu 11am-2:30pm, 5pm-10pm; Fri 11am-2pm, 5pm-10:30pm; Sat 4pm-10:30pm; Sun 4pm-9:30pm

They are only open for lunch during the work week. If you can snag either a Monday or a Thursday reservation that would be great. Do you have Martin Luther King day off? That's a Monday.

Chima has similar hours as well.

I have been wanting to eat at a Brazillian steak house. This sounds wonderful!!!

Maybe I will surprise DH with a visit to one next month on his birthday!!! He is a serious meat eater and I think he would enjoy this very much!

Now, the only decision for me is going to Baltimore or DC??? Baltimore I would just use the parking garage behind the restaurant, in DC I would take the metro. Both are approximately the same distance.

Oh, decisions, decisions!!

I had never heard of this restaurant until the other night. I'm an Auburn fan and follow some of the players on Twitter. They are in Phoenix for the BCS Championship game and had dinner at Fogo De Chao. Let's just say there were some VERY happy guys after dinner. They were all tweeting about it and LOVED it!
Now I wish there were one here.

I've been a couple of times... and oh man, is it always good! The one we have here is downtown.

I've been to a handful of other brazillian steakhouses (might want to see if they have anything similar in your area?) which are much cheaper. I find the quality of meat to be around the same. The only thing that differs here at least, is the quality of the 'salad' bar. Fogo's is out of this world amazing. Of course it helps that they have olives the size of my thumb, and lox... so I might be biased!

I say go. If nothing else it will be an experience for you and DH!

Texas De Brazil is one of our favorite places. After reading your thread I checked out to see if we have any Fogo De Chao around us and found out they have one in Indy. How have I missed this???? I now know when I am taking DH for his birthday!

I will be in the minority but I hated it. Although the meat was good, it wasn't great and the salad bar was overrated IMO.

In addition, I found the ambiance lacking. Piped in Muzak, the lighting was too bright and there were wheels on the chairs. I felt like I was in a Denny's. For a $100+ meal I have much higher expectations.

The Philly Fogo has valet parking that was $18 I think, but Cindy B is right -- parking there is tricky.

FYI for those of you in the Philly area, both Fogo and Chima are participating in Philly Restaurant Week from January 16-21 & 23-28 for $35 dinners

This place has been on my list to try. Thanks for all the reviews.

ETA: What is the difference between lunch and dinner? On the website it lists lunch being at 32.50 and dinner 48.50. Do they bring out a wider selection of meats at dinner?

We've eaten at the one in Phoenix and in Chicago and it is my DH's favorite restaurant, hands down.

Thank you for all the great reviews. Several young teachers where I work have been talking about this place and how much they love it. We will be going to philly. From what I understand the difference between lunch and dinner is only the price.
Thanks so much for the Philly restaurant week tip. We just got ressies for that week which will save us quite a bit. I might see if my kids want to go for that price. DH is a big meat eater. For something special that's all he asks for. So I'm sure he will love this. And I hear the service is very good, which will also make him happy. It looks like restaurant week is the exact same meal only dessert is included. I have to drive so hopefully we will find parking. Can't wait now.

So glad my restaurant week tip helped out!! If you don't use their valet parking, there are lots of parking garages around and you can get coupons for some of the garages here:

I made dinner reservation at Chima. Where did you find that Fogo is participating in restaurant week? I saw the link someone posted but then if you click the link it did not show Fogo.. You couldn't make reservations.

You will love it. As far as parking, you may do better doing PATCO
