The ship will port at some point. At that time, after everyone has debarked, and the ship has been cleaned up, you will be boarded. This might happen tonight. Or not until tomorrow. No way of knowing until the ship actually can enter the port.

The fog will lift and the ship will come in and the port and the crew will do an amazing job in getting everyone off so you can get on. Your departure may be delayed a bit, but it will eventually leave tonight. I looked at the cruise cam for Galveston (which is an amazing webcam, btw) and it is very foggy in Galveston.

Actually, right as I type this 2 birds are directly in front of the webcam and all I can see are fog and feathers.

I think fog in Galveston is pretty common.

Did they let you in the terminal? I would think they wouldn't let you in until at least the ship is in port.

Hi, no we haven't been allowed to head to the port yet, will we still have a sail away party?? Just curious? :)

Probably depends on what time you leave. On a RCCL cruise in Alaska we didn't leave until about 3/3:30am. NO sail away party.

This happened to our cruise out of Galveston on Dec. 23rd. We ended up driving around Galveston island for a few hours to pass the time before they would allow us to drop off luggage and check in at the terminal. When we returned to the terminal, it was chaotic. The terminal area was packed with people getting off the ship and people waiting to get into the terminal to check in. Parking took a long time because we had to slowly wait for people to exit the parking lot before we could move in to take their places. The local police and port security did a fine job making things as orderly as they could. Eventually everything worked out. We missed out on a few hours we had hoped to have on the ship. But that's life. The muster drill was delayed a little while and dinner at first seating was a bit rushed. But after that everything settled into normal cruise order for the passengers. I think the ship seemed to cruise at a slightly faster pace than usual that night to make up for lost time on our way to the first port.

We still had a fun sail away party on the Dec. 23rd sailing. There is hope. I would guess the fog will delay things a few hours. But hopefully not long enough to impact your cruise too badly. Good luck!

She's entered the ship channel and should be docking with in the hour. Boarding obviously will be delayed as will departure at this point considering it's nearly 1pm CST and the people won't be able exit the ship probably until 2pm or so, everything will be move back because of the delay.

I just read on Scott's Blog, that they are asking guests to delay their PAT 5 hours but not later than 7pm..... Crazy.
$25 per person stateroom credit, while I know they don't have to do that, these people are missing the entire day. I know I pay way more than $25 per day on these cruises, Just Sayin.
