Flying with plastic condiment bottles...mess or no mess?

I have a couple of favorite brand name condiments that I would like to pack in my suitcase when we fly to Disney this November. They are sold in plastic bottles and I'm wondering how they would fare in flight. We're coming from Canada and it will take us 3 planes to get there... Does anybody have experience with packing plastic condiment bottles in their suitcases?

They should be okay. Just be sure and pack them inside ziploc bags in case they leak.

I'm hoping they will be okay. I questioned it because because the last time we flew, we each purchased a bag of chips for our carry on and took them out at one point during the flight and was a little concerned that the bags looked like they could explode at any moment. I'm just hoping the air pressure doesn't explode the unopened, sealed plastic bottles inside the plastic bags.

I usually pack a couple bottles of wine or vodka. I wrap them in bubble wrap and then in a large zip lock bag. I've never had a problem.

Just double seal them in ziploc bags in order to protect not only your luggage, but the luggage of others (depending how liquidy they are). They shouldn't have issues, but with the way luggage can be handled, it is better to be safe then sorry.

We have packed beer, liquor, packets of salad dressings, water, OJ, butter, jelly ect. Never had a problem. Put them in ziploc baggies and wrap in your clothes or towels and you should be fine! I have also seen my chip bags fill up like they are gonna explode but I have never seen it happen! I would be more worried about the baggage handlers but still wouldn't worry about it! I think you will be fine!

Frommemory it has something to do with the people compartment being pressurized but the cargo part not being pressurized. I've taken all kinds of stuff internationally in checked luggage ( from us to australia even) and had it survive. So u should be fine. I usually wrapin bubble wrap then ziplock em as well

Thanks everyone! I'm going to take your advice and bubblewrap it and then double bag it and hope for the best. I think it will work perfectly!

The cargo compartment is pressurized (animals that are being shipped would die if it was not), but it is only minimally climate controlled. That means that temperature changes can exacerbate leakage problems in the hold.

I find that new factory sealed bottles of pretty much anything at all will be fine as is, but anything that has been opened should be double-wrapped with some sort of absorbent stuffing.
