Good morning, one of my kids has an ear infection and just started a liquid antibiotic. We leave for Disney in three days - she will need the medicine for 7 more, (is feeling fine now, but needs to finish the meds). Any idea how to carry this on and through security? The prescription bottle is labeled, but has been opened and needs to be kept cold.
Any ideas?

Thanks so much!

This happened to us on our first trip and you can carry medication through security with ice to keep it cold - you just need to seperate it and let them know you have it. Security barely gave it a second glance.

You won't have any trouble. We have done this many times.

From the TSA Website:

Declare larger liquids. Medications, baby formula and food, and breast milk are allowed in reasonable quantities exceeding three ounces and are not required to be in the zip-top bag. Declare these items for inspection at the checkpoint. Officers may need to open these items to conduct additional screening.

You won't have any trouble with the liquid, however, you may or may not have trouble trying to get ice through. Agents have been known to throw ice bags/freezer packs away because they were not frozen solid. Here's what you need to do. Ice down your medication on the way to security. Right before you go through security, ditch the ice, but keep the baggie. On the other side of security, get some ice from one of the food vendors and then ice the medication down again.

You can also freeze grapes or carrots and use them as an ice pak without worry of melting.

Whew! Big relief - thank you all for the info., glad to hear it shouldn't be a problem. Will try the ice (and toss it before security) or frozen snack route I think.

Thanks again!
