Flying with children

This coming trip will be the first time that I have ever flown and I have a security question. I know now that adults have to show thier IDs in order to pass thru security, so they require that for children as well? We have a 4 & 12 yr old and I want to plan ahead of time if we need to get them ID cards.

My(DD) 3 and a half year old has been to Disney four times. We have never had to show any kind of Id for her at the airport. I don't believe it is required. I do carry a copy of her birth certificate.

Same with us for a now nine year old. They always tease her about where her ID is, but pure teasing.

Nope, kids do not need IDs. We have always had some kind of ID for my dd anyway. Her school does an ID that she carries with her. She is 12.
