We flew with Virgin in October and we were on a smaller plane going out and a jumbo coming back. The smaller plane was much nicer and the jumbo was showing its age. The entertainment system did not work.
We are with Virgin again this August and are on Jumbo's both ways. Have anyone else had a similar experience?

Hi

Last year we had a jumbo going out and the new smaller plane coming back.

The jumbo going out was disgusting, dirty, tatty and nothing worked but they were in the middle of refurbishing them last year and they have now all been complete according to the virgin website.

I do think its a little unfair that last year we still payed the same price and still advertised and sold to us as the virgin Rock Star experience and yet got a plane that was way below standard :(

Hopefully it will be better this year or I will not fly Virgin again.

All the jumbos have been refitted and we flew on pretty woman in april. We flew out on the airbus and much preferred the jumbo. Hopefully you will feel happier knowing all the planes have been refitted.

I actually hope that I'm on a 747 and not a smaller airbus.

As the PP said the 747s have all been refurbed now and as this work has only been completed somewhat recently then Its likely. You just had bad luck last year and ended up on one waiting for its refurb.

The smaller planes are the new A330s, Virgin fly them at quieter times. We flew out and back in February in them. We loved them because the PE cabin is larger.

In August we are flying out in the airbus and back in the Jumbo.

Thanks for all your help.
I should have learned by now that I should ask you guys instead of worrying.:thumbsup2

We came back 2 weeks ago and flew out on the Airbus and back on the 747.

Both planes were fine and had the Vera entertainment system( which my DH kept calling the Elsie system :rotfl2: ) which allowed you to pause the screen.

Going we had a handset and coming back it was touch screen....... remind me to hunt down the annoying boy behind me who thought he had to bang the screen to make it work :headache:

We flew on an A330 both ways last May/June.

On the way out, one of our in flight entertainment screens didn't work at all - it wouldn't even load. The staff offered us a portable DVD player.

On the way back, there were no tea or coffee facilities.

Just saying, you can get problems on either! Although fingers crossed there won't be any this time :)

Never flown Virgin and just doing the Basic seats as there a big group of us

What is it like with Food Space and Entertainment ?
