Flying over labor day weekend... does anyone think the Southwest prices will come down?

Our original dates were August 26th - Sept 2nd but that equals $266 per person (there are 7 of us :scared1: )
If we could change our dates to August 25th - September 4th it comes down to $167 per person which is more in our price range but I'm not sure we could get that much time off from work.
We are flying from Buffalo. Do you think because of the dates, this is the best options we can expect?

I'm not sure. Does it help to just change your outbound flight and keep your return the same? If you are going for free dining you can do one night at room only and then start the dining package on 8/26.

I rarely have trouble getting cheap fares out of PHL or BWI for your dates, so I don't have much insight.

I have the Ding thing on my computer. I've been watching the airfare for a while, trying to figure out when we'll go back. SW has been really HIGH!! They just finally did a Ding for the month of June but Tues/Wed only. $44 each way.

I guess the high gas prices are really catching up to the airlines. :sad2:
You may want to check the fares into Tampa. It's not such a bad drive to Orlando. We did it a couple of years ago.

BTW, the Dings I've been watching are from Philly.

It's an extra 3 hr drive but have you considered Detroit? There are more choices to fly of of DTW than BUF especially for a group of 7!

We booked aug 29-and sept 4 SW and are flying out of buffalo it ended up being 149. rt for 4. The lower fares being on tuesday and thursday keep checking because my fares dropped 100.00 each person by changing from mon to tues. goodluck

We are booked for Aug 27 and returning Sept 3 (Labour day) for $600 for 4 of us. I booked it about 1 week ago but I and agent there told me when looking for flights to check after midnight because the flights that are on courtesy hold are up for grabs if not firmed up by MN. Also, people do cancel so I would just keep checking.

I looked on another thread for SW DINGS for late August - Sept and it looks like they were the best in June. I booked our trip to get the flight we wanted but I'm hoping for a good DING in the next few weeks.

Thanks everybody...

I think I better book today with the longer trip at $167 but I will keep checking for DINGS. I am going on another trip with my friends in November so I could use the credit if the prices come down.

Flying out of Detroit was something I checked into but it would mean a 6 hour drive to the airport. We are already driving 3 hours to get to Buffalo. Syracuse is the other closest airport (other than Toronto).

Syracuse doesn't have SW and their Jetblue prices are always higher than Delta or USAirways (when I have looked anyway).

I'm watching fares from Buffalo too. My son starts college there this fall. We are flying to Denver after we leave him on Delta skymiles, but plan to use the Buffalo airport for SW/Airtran to Disney fall 2008.
