So, the countdown has officially started. Less than 2 weeks now:banana:

The kids made a countdown poster yesterday to mark off the days :thumbsup2

My husband has taken the suitcases out of the loft and I now have the task of trying not to overpack:rotfl2:

I'm sure that like us, a lot of you will have bought new things for your vacation - the dilemma I now face is what to wear to travel in.....:rotfl:

What will you be traveling in?

Hoping you will inspire me........

i always travel in comfy layers, last time i went for leggins and a t-shirt with a fleece on top, i always get hot then cold then hot on the plane! Oh travels in 3/4 length bottoms and t-shirt and dd is in leggins and a tshirt with a cardi. Comfort is key for me :thumbsup2 have a great holiday

Well with more than 40 transatlantic flights under my belt, I've learned that comfort is of paramount importance. I don't do casual well, though (I can't seem to pull it off and just feel scruffy). On occasion, we've been checking in to swanky hotels on arrival, so I don't want to turn up looking as though I've dressed for a trip to the gym! Often, there's the consideration of differing weather conditions at either end of the journey. It's not easy, is it? :teeth:

For our flight to Miami in March, I was pretty happy with my choice. I wore a nice dress from Phase Eight which looks smart, but is made from that stretchy polyester jersey fabric which is uber comfortable. It's sleeveless, so I wore a little shrug-style cardigan for the journey out and then whipped it off at the other end. A pair of comfortable pumps finished it off. Best of all, it doesn't crease, so I didn't look a fright when we checked in to our Miami hotel. :thumbsup2

ETA: And here I am in our swanky Miami hotel ;). Looks as though I was mistaken about having whipped off the shrug. :teeth:

I go for comfort too and am planning to wear 3/4 length leggings, long top (dark colour in case something gets spilt on it !) and a cardi.

I will take spare clothes for my youngest who is prone to travel sickness, usually hes ok on planes but just in case !

cotton trousers (they're these puffy loose ones with an elastic waist, so they're very comfortable)...
and a cotton short sleeve shirt...

i'm never cold anymore, so i don't need anything on top in the summer...

if i'm cold on the plane i use the blanket....

Well to coin a phrase that I read on another website, I'm afraid we look like we are on a day out from JJB Sports (or any other sports shop!!!)...

I don't feel as though I need to make any effort at all :lmao::lmao: I am on holiday and wear what I am comfy in, even for our trips in UC :lmao:

Normally wear t-shirt and 3/4 bottoms and probably flip flops......

I'm also afraid that this continues once we are there!!

Oh dear, does this make me a chav :rolleyes1

Ali :goodvibes

When we travel in 6 DAYS:cool1: I'll be wearing dark linen trousers and a vest, with a cardi.

I always wear jeans with uggs and a top - dont find a problem wearing jeans and uggs are fab for not getting swollen feet on the flight for me:thumbsup2

Not at all. I wish I could do the same. I think a lot of it's to do with my age! The older I get, the more i feel the need to conform to... well, I don't even know what exactly! :teeth:

Yes I always go for a linen blend trousers so they don't crease quite as bad, but I ALWAY'S wear a dark colour as I am a messy mere and without doubt I will drop something down me quite early on in the journey!!! :) Layers are the thing to go for as the flights can be cool to cold at times. But..never ever would I go in something like jeans and boots because depending what time of year you go, they open the aircraft doors at MCO and that heat just hits you hard and can just take your breath away. You'd be instantly sweating big time wearing anything remotely heavy..not a good look!!!!!:hippie:

I'm another one for comfortable layers! I'm wearing black jogging bottoms, t-shirt and a beige hooded cardigan. For the first time ever I'm going to be wearing flight socks (yuck, but I'm of an age now!) and I'm going to wear my Ecco shoes because they slip on and off easier than my trainers. DH is wearing some chinos and a t-shirt (he doesn't do cold) and the children will wear similar to me. There will be a change of clothes for the childen packed (and I might even sneak a pair of cropped trousers in for me too) so when we head out into the heat they're ready for it!

Very nearly almost into single digits for us now :banana:

i forgot to mention my feet - i'll be wearing my birkenstock sandals...actually, they're birkies....they're what i live in year round....

as for a hooded sweatshirt or cardigan, just thinking about them makes me break out in a sweat...

i can't imagine wearing a cardigan or hooded sweatshirt right now.....
i'm traveling from a hot climate to a hot climate....

as i said, if i get cold on the plane (which i'm sure i will) i'll cover myself with the plane blanket...

Usually travel in 3/4 linen trousers but this year wore my denim skirt. Short sleeve top and then a hoody or similar.

Always wear trainers as they are the bulkiest shoes I take and don't want them in the case :goodvibes

Jeans and a t-shirt, with a zippy hoody in case I get cold. Trainers or flip flops on my feet, depending on the weather here when we're leaving.

So pretty much what I wear every day!

I made the mistake of wearing jeans when I flew last time. It was 6am in October when we left London so it was freezing. Jeans, warm top and coat. Got off the plane in Florida and I was desperate to take those jeans off!!

I'll be wearing cotton leggings next time if it's cold here, or just grin and bear the cold and put on a dress :D

LOL I usually wear jeans in Florida, even in the summer. My family think I'm a bit nuts, but I hate exposing my skin to the sun!

I'm struggling with the change in climate. It will be early a.m here when we leave late Sept and about 5a.m mid Oct when we get back. So I am thinking cropped trousers, strappy top, lightweight cardi, and a micro fleece for this end and I can take layers on/ off as needed. Footwear I am struggling with. If I wear sandals my feet could be freezing this end and on the flight, but I don't want to wear trainers and be boiling at the other end, and have taken footwear that will not be used other than to travel in.

Another vote for layers, long shift/tunic dress type top with leggings underneath (the only time I wear leggings is for my holiday each year) then just before arrival remove leggings and arrive cooler. Definitely some sort of mules - as I am a flight sock wearer my legs are warm enough on flight and I just remove them with leggings before landing so at least once in Orlando I don't look like a dork lol

I tend to wear jeans, which was handy when we landed in NYC in Feb & it was -4! although when we went to Vegas I couldn't wait to change as it was very hot

I'm full of admiration for those of you who manage to travel in jeans. I find them unbearably uncomfortable at the best of times, let alone on a transatlantic flight. Maybe if I lost a pound or two... (OK, OK, a stone or two!)

I'm with chocolateMinnie on the leggings/tunic option. :thumbsup2
