Looks like we are going to get hit with some snow here in Philadelphia. We have no clue what to expect. How much snow usually closes the airports? How does it work if our flight is cancelled or delayed, who and what determines which flight we get on? What happens to our luggage:confused:

We have a room at the airport for tomorrow night, they are ALL booked and luckily we snagged a reservation at the Hampton Inn and they said they have the complimentary shuttle and parking is included in the room price (129.00 + tax). At least we do not have to worry about roads driving to the airport in the morning.

I am so stressed out over this!!!

Airports are equipped to handle lots of snow. PHL is usually pretty good and doesn't have lots of cancellations unless it is a massive storm. I suggest bringing the phone number of your airline with you so you can call Sat. morning and see if there is a delay. If there is one you could just wait out the time at your hotel instead of the airport. Once you check in and there is a delay your suitcases won't be going anywhere.

If the flight is cancelled again have the 800 number for your airline. Instead of making the mad dash to the ticket counter to get placed on another flight or airline you can call and they can handle it without you standing in line. Then all you would have to do is go to a gate and have them issue new boarding passes.

I think you will be fine on Saturday.

That sounds pretty easy!! Thank you :D We will be armed with numbers LOL

Good luck with your flight!!! Have a great trip!

I'm getting nervous now, too! I have a 7:00 a.m. flight out of BDL tomorrow morning. They are predicting about 4 - 5 inches by then! I am crossing my fingers that we will fly out on time!

They rarely cancel flights, they have great snow removal. As long as the snow is not coming down rapidly and they have the runways plowed, you should be good to go. Good luck and have a wonderful trip!!!!

Add me to the group of nervous flyers. I have a 5 pm flight out of Burlington VT to JFk and then on to Orlando. I know leaving BTV won't be a problem, but I am worried about landing and taking off on time from JFK. First time flying since November 2000 and now this storm had to happen.

I'm flying out of Albany,New York tomorrow at 3pm and connect in Pittsburgh! It's suppose to start getting really bad by the afternoon too! We are looking at 6-8 inches and Pittsburgh is looking at about 10 inches! Still keeping my fingers crossed hoping we get out of this crazy mess!

I wouldn't worry about PIT. We get lots of snows here and there may be a small delay but usually it takes much more snow that what they are predicting to close down the airport. Usually when there are cancellations it is because the airport you are flying to from PIT is closed. PIT is a great airport.

::yes:: .......I agree 100% with safetymom's post above. Pittsburgh is well prepared for these type of conditions.

Add me to the list! On the 9:20am out of Pittsburgh tomorrow! They have reduced the expected accumulation to from 4 to 6. We did not have any accumulation today as expected. It started to accumulate after dark, coming down hard now, wet snow that clings to the trees. They said it should slow down after midnight and end by 6:00am. I have a town car picking us up to go to the airport.

Chip126, we are on the same flight! Still ontime per the Delta website. I am hoping that we leave early enough to miss the majority of the snow. Also, I've heard that the plane should already BE at BDL on Friday night, so that is a plus!

Add us to the panic list ran around today moving it all up a day. Drop off the animals etc, etc... We leave Sunday at 8am, Out of T.F. Green anyone want to bet odds on if we will get out? We too just made a reservation at an airport hotel. But now the question is can we get to the hotel tommorow?

Welcome to the DIS Lacey01!! I am sure everything will turn out Ok for you.::yes::

Oh well, unfortunately Pittsburgh looked good but the weather is really bad in my area (upstate NY) this morning.I called the airline and they re-scheduled us for tomorrow morning to leave out.Everything should be fine by then. Thank goodness we did not have to drive to the airport in these blizzard like conditions.
I had to also change my car rental and rental home reservations.
Looks like it's turned out for the best anyway.Hope everyone else does OK with their flights out!!

debden, sorry to hear you couldn't get out of NY. PIT here is reporting no problems but are having delays and cancellations at other airports.

The snow has stopped here in PIT but understand NY and the coast are getting ready for round 2 of the snow.

Stay safe.

Sunday? I expect it will be good to go, the snow is supposed to stop today.

Hi Safetymom,Thanks! Pittsburgh is also our stop-over for tomorrow morning. Our flight leaves out of Albany,New York at 7am.
Right now the snow is coming down really, really hard and looks like were going to get a ton of that white stuff! Oh well, tis the season! It's suppose to clear up for tomorrow but Delta Airlines (not our airline,by the way) already announced earlier that flights out of Albany,NY were cancelled for today and tomorrow morning. I'm hoping their just jumping the gun a little on tomorrows cancellations. I'm sure as long as Pittsburgh is OK we should make it!!! Yeah.....Looking forward to better/warmer weather in Florida. My house,my rental car,and my nephew will be there waiting for me. It should be interesting to see what happens!

We made it to Orlando yesterday with little problem! Snow stopped in Pittsburgh during the night, the sun was out by the time we got to the airport. The plane was late coming from Philadelphia but we got off only 30 min late, I was expecting a lot worse. I looked at the departure board, there were only 2 flights to WV cancelled (commuters). Weather here was cool, only 49 when we landed about noon. Little warmer today, mid 60's.
