Has anyone flown out of TF Green in Providence lately? We have a 7:00 a.m. flight the day before Thanksgiving to MCO. I know, I know, one of the busiest days to travel!!

I was planning on getting to the airport at least 1.5 hours before, which means 5:30 A.M. UGHHHHH, should I allow that much time or would I be safe with just an hour? We're staying in a hotel across the street, so we'll be dropped off at the curb..

Should we use curbside check in? Do they still have it at PVD? I haven't been down there for years.... or should we just stand in line and check our luggage in and get checked in at the same time?

I know I have a long time to find out, but I figured I'd start now!!
thanks for your help!!;)

Hey neighbor!

Last time I flew out of PVD was last Feb. Can't help you out with curbside checkin because I didn't use it but as I recall lines have never been too bad. (Actually, now that I think back I don't believe there is any curbside checkin) But being on of the busiest travel days of the year, I think I'd be safe and do 1 1/2 - 2 hours. At least you'll have the peace of mind of not missing your flight!!! :smooth:

At lot depends on the airline you are using. SWA has curbside checkin and they advise one hour before flight for check in.

We flew out of PVD in May and YES they do have curbside check-in!!

I would definitely be there 1 1/2 to 2 hours before your scheduled take off time being that it is one of the busiest times of the year to travel.

Things went very smoothly at PVD, however, the line to go through the metal detectors was backed up and we spent about 10 - 15 minutes in that line!! They check your I.D. about 4 or 5 times (curbside check-in or at the airline desk, going through the metal detectors, boarding the plane and also randomly)

Have a wonderful flight and an awesome vacation!!

I flew into and out of PVD last weekend, and the situation has improved much since this past winter. They now have many more security scanners and a single line feeding all of them. Security should be a breeze, so I wouldn't worry about getting there too early.

If you arrive one hour early, have your e-ticket confirmation in hand, and use curbside check-in, you'll still have plenty of time to cool your heels at the gate.

just wanted to pop in, jeanny and travelin tigger, we're also neighbors! i'm in northbridge.

i love PVD. i will never fly out of logan again!

Just had to ask......

How is the parking at PVD and is it easy to get to exspecially for
someone coming in from Mass.?

Is the parking safe for a 10 day visit....also any idea on the cost to park?

thx

Here is the weblink for parking at TF Green(PVD):

http://www.pvd-ri.com/directions/parking_rates.htm

My wife and I are flying out of there on Dec 7th, and am also curious about how the parking is. The website says there are 4300 spaces in the weekly lot. Does anyone know if they usually have plenty of spaces available?

I fly out of TF Green all the time. We never park at the on-site parking. We always use the Thrifty parking that is just around the corner (really a 2 minute shuttle ride over). It's cheap and you get dropped off right at curbside check-in. No hassle getting your luggage from the car to the airport. There's also a coupon on theirWebsite for 10% off - AAA members save 15%. When you return, you pick up the phone and they send the shuttle to pick you up at baggage claim. When you get back to Thrifty your car is ready and waiting (and warmed up in the winter). They even do AAA approved auto repairs while your car is there.

flying out of TF green is pretty smooth. Plan for 1 and 1/2 hours prior and depending on airlines maybe more. Green soes do curbside check-ins as well
There are a few cheaper off site parking lots nearby that you may want to look into

Thanks neighbors. We're planning on staying at the Radisson and flying out on Delta. I'm leaving my car at the hotel while we're gone and they have a shuttle for us to & from, I guess basically the same thing as Thrifty. I just call them from the baggage area when we get back.

I was hoping PVD still had curbside check in. I'm assuming we're going to have e tickets (?) , we're going through a travel agent... so I don't have any paperwork, etc. yet. I wasn't sure if we could check in curbside and then just go to the security check/gate or if I had to stand in line again inside, then go through security check and stand in line again to check in at the gate. I know it's one of the busiest days to travel, but want to allow for security checks and lines.. 10-15 minutes doesn't sound bad compared to an hour in Logan...

I haven't flown for 3 years but will not go out of Logan, I don't care if I save money going out of there... it's not worth the time/aggravation. PVD is SO much easier.... an easier ride and easy to get to, I usually just come down 295 to 95, so I avoid downtown Providence and can just about pull up to the gate!! Not a bad parking lot and you don't have to walk for miles to get to the lobby/check in.

My daughter-in-law works for Delta out of PVD. If you are flying holiday time she said you need to be as early as possible. The security lines can get long at that time. Also, in the past they would pull passengers that had a flight soon and put them through security first, this is no longer happening. If you have an e-ticket, use the kiosk for check in. Your checked luggage now goes through a scanner before you get to the counter to check it. Carri will not be working then since my granddaughter is due on the 24th!

thanks Kerri...

I'll call PVD a few days before and see how the travel times/check in line seem to be going...

I really dread being there for 5:30 AM, but at least I'll be to WDW by noon (hopefully) and almost a whole afternoon at the parks.
I'll see if I can give that kiosk thing a whirl...

Thank Carri for her help... and good luck with that grandbaby!

We're doing to same as you only on the 25th of November, also have a 7:00 a.m. Delta flight and will be staying at the Radisson and parking the car there, couldn't pass up the great rate for the room for the night and parking for 12 days. We are planning to get the the airport for 5:00 a.m. and hopefully get the kids something to eat.

Hey Shelby.. yep we're staying at the Radisson and leaving our car there too... it is SO much easier than arranging for a ride at 5:00 in the morning... who in their right mind is going to be up at that time unless they have to be right????

A word about the getting the kids something to eat & drink at the airport.... my daughter, niece and nephew flew out of Logan in February at 7:00 a.m..... they had just bought 2 HOT coffees for them and juice for my nephew.

When they went to the security line, they had to throw their coffee out or drink it RIGHT THERE... they couldn't bring in through with them... Kyle was allowed to bring his juice because they could see through it... needless to say they weren't happy campers having to throw their wake up coffee away...

So when you get something to eat and drink, make sure you consume it BEFORE going through security, just in case they're as strict as Logan.

Maybe we'll see you down there LOL

My sister works for the Radisson (in the sales office) and we use this feature all the time - we park our cars there for the length of our trip and get a shuttle to and from the airport. It is a great feature and we feel very safe leaving our car there for that duration of time.

Glad to see others using the Radisson!!
