Flying out of MSP

Which airline is cheapest to MCO out of MSP? Trying to surprise DD22 with a ticket to join us on vacation in June and round trip flights are at $400! Yikes!

Any suggestions??

Probably Airtran, maybe frontier. Maybe even Delta/Northwest they should have a lot of capacity going from there to Atlanta and beyond now.

Airtran always seems to be the cheapest for me but I am all over the internet finding codes and comparing rates. I usually spend at least ten hours for each reservation I make... OCD for sure but it is my "fun".

Unfortunately Airtran has suspended (they say temporarily) their nonstops from MSP to MCO over the summer and fall. That leaves Delta and Suncountry as the only carriers with nonstops and the fares have increased substantially. I would reccomend looking at Southwest. They have one flight daily from MSP to MCO with a stop in Chicago but no plane change so you would not have to worry about making a connection. You can frequently get a Southwest roundtrip for less $$$ than connecting flights on other carriers. Good luck.

We fly out of MSP and just got back last week. We flew delta on way out love the nonstop 7 am flight and airtran on the way back they had one nonstop 2 pm flight. I check kayak for ticket prices. Also if you do book airtran check price on kayak and then click link to take you to airtran site adn you get to choose your seats for free this way. We don't want to change planes and only fly nonstop since its only 3 hours. Always have had good experiences w/ delta/nwa and their tickets usually go on sale when airtran or suncountry has a sale. Also check suncountry they fly nonstop but usually only 1 or 2 flight times a day. Have paid anywhere from 150-250 for round trip to MCO from MSp good luck!

Just FYI...booking Airtran through the Kayak link no longer provides free seat assignments...they changed this a few months ago.

I think with Airtran suspending their nonstop flights from MSP to MCO over the summer the OP is going to find it impossible to find nonstop fares in the $150-$200 range and I would hate for her to miss out on a decent fare waiting for a fare that is not going to happen.

I just booked (this is a special rate through Disney, supposedly) from MSP to MCO through Sun Country Air.

It ended up being pretty reasonable, you should check it out. It's the cheapest fare I could find.

I have always found Airtran the cheapest. Sun Country used to be right there with them, but the last couple of years they have slowly been moving their fares up.

I have not been impressed with SWA's fares out of MSP either.

Frontier can be ok, but you either fly to Denver first or if you get on a Midwest flight, you will connect in Milwaukee.....

We always try to fly suncountry, but their flight times and prices for August were terrible. We ended up booking a Delta flight to Tampa. The price was over 100.00 cheaper per person for a non-stop. With young kids, it is easier for them to be occupied in the rental car for an extra hour of travel than deal with a layover or a connecting flight.

I am praying Suncountry prices go down for our January trip. The winter arrival and departure times are perfect, but the prices are terrible.

I am really disappointed with the Sun Country prices lately. I love to fly them as they usually have good flight times and I love leaving out of the Humphrey terminal.

I sure hope their prices come down for our trip next year.

Can't say for sure wether it will happen again, but the prices our flights for this past Jan/Feb trip were AMAZING!!! I just checked my Disney File and I booked them on August 13th! We paid $560 US round trip for the 4 of us on Sun Country!!! Let's hope that we can all get great deals like that again!!! We are hoping to do a trip again in Early February 2011 and airfare will make or break our trip!! Flying out of Canada is just too darn expensive!

DD is graduating from college and is waiting to hear if she will have an internship that begins June 1st. If she gets the internship.....she doesn't get to come with us on vacation

So...I'm waiting on that--she should find out this week-- and hoping SW fares will come down a bit. I know I can get a credit for her if the fares come down---but I really don't know if she will be able to take a trip within a year based on her finding a new job/internship fresh out of college.

DH, DS15 & I already have our tickets and are flying out of MKE--we bought our tix about 3 weeks ago $88 ea. way on SW.

I did notice Airtran dropped a bit today...not non-stop

Can anyone tell me what would be considered a decent fare???

"Decent Fare" has taken on a whole new meaning in this era of consolidating airlines and fluctuating fuel prices.

The airlines need to make a profit to stay in business.

That being said, $250 per person (roundtrip, including taxes) was what my target price would be, assuming you weren't flying a holiday or a heavy-load day.

But I'll be honest and tell you that I haven't seen that price for a while. The new "decent fare" in this climate may be different.

Bottom line: pay the price you can stomach while there are still seats available.

Well now....that's depressing! I'm finding around $500 on SW and have found about $250 combining fares from different airlines there & back---but I can't book until she finds out about the internship. Arrrgh!

6 weeks out I booked tickets from MSP to MCO via Delta (non-stop and round trip). My target price was $250 per ticket and I came well under this. Just for yuks I just went to Delta and I see the ticket prices are now almost $200 more per ticket.

We are doing the MSP to MCO watch for 11/30/2010 to 12/11/2010. Really want a direct flight on Delta (would like the miles) But we too are hoping for a $250.00 per ticket price or less!. We will play the waiting game for a bit. We would fly another airline if we found the right price.

I Would love to find $88 each way for our trip. Any Idea how far in advance SW releases their flights?. We are leaving 11/30/2010 (would take a red eye on 11/29/10) and they have not yet released flights for our dates. Never taken SW before, just want to compare prices.

We always fly non-stop on Delta. In October we will go for $219. (Booked in March) In April we went for almost $100 more....

I've been watching daily for my dates (11/27-12/4) and it hasn't once been under $320 per person, round-trip, including taxes, on Delta.

What's funny is that the planes I'm watching and next to empty. But I'm guessing Delta is more concerned about filling flights in June right now than flights in November and December.
