Flying out of MSP

I've been watching daily for my dates (11/27-12/4) and it hasn't once been under $320 per person, round-trip, including taxes, on Delta.

What's funny is that the planes I'm watching and next to empty. But I'm guessing Delta is more concerned about filling flights in June right now than flights in November and December.

Good point maybe we will see something better later this summer!!:goodvibes. It's just hard to wait. popcorn::

We are also watching December fares from MSP. I am still getting sale emails from airtran/delta for spring/summer sales so we will have to be patient. Suncountry isn't flying on the dates we are traveling they are on a reduced schedule, I am hoping for Delta, we have miles built up with them...good luck everybody while we wait:rolleyes1

I miss my NWA fares! The last few years (most recent Aug 09) we haven't paid more than $150 for our non-stop round trip tickets. I just booked with Delta for October for twice that. I just couldn't wait. I used credit card points for one of the tickets, so that helped. The only non-stop were through Delta or SunCountry. SunCountry was slightly cheaper, but couldn't use my credit card points. I have never seen a good rate for SW out of MSP. I keep hearing people talk about them, so I keep checking. Then I see a price of over $500 for one ticket! This year will be my Delta experiment. If the prices drop dramatically before my trip, I will have a good cry, but will have learned an important lesson for next year.

we booked on Delta a few weeks ago for September for $628 CDN for 3 of us. Both are direct flights. I would keep watching. They have a $23/bag charge though

Anyone had any luck finding a good deal resently flying out of MSP to MCo or even Tampa for the End of NOV or any time in DEC 2010?

Thanks:goodvibes

I check Kayak everyday, fares have been the same for months...still waiting. Cheapest delta I can find is 319, still to high for me to book right now.

Yeah we are with you!! We have been watching for months now and are seeing the same thing. It's only moved a couple of buck up and down. Holding out hope the price comes down!:goodvibes

We have lived here in Minnesota for 5 years now and have never paid more than $300 round trip to MCO. We are traveling March 2011 (March 12 - 20 to be exact) for our next visit to the world and I am in total shock at the price and horrible flight times. What's with that fellow Minnesotans? Is this typical? Is there hope that these fares will come down for that time of year? I'm sick to my stomach because I borrowed our DVC points from the following year and can't give them back. I had no idea fares would be that high for March. Give me hope please!!!

In case anyone reading this is travelling in early September, Sun Country is having a fare sale for flights on Labor Day Weekend. MSP/MCO for $79 each way. Of course, that's just the weekend. Rates are still about twice that much on the surrounding days. But you could make a round trip for a decent rate with those.

Doesn't help me, as we're looking for November, but just thought I'd pass it along.

All flight still hold steady for Dec, just trying to hold out hope for a drop!:goodvibes:goodvibes:surfweb:popcorn::

I hear you the same price everyday, $315 is starting to look good I have seen it so many times:laughing: Nope, still waiting I will book when it get closer to 250, I hope at least:rolleyes1

I agree with everyone -- airfare is terrible. We are looking at Oct. 15 - 24. Which is over MEA - we know that prices will be higher then - but - $500.00 on Delta for times that we want!!!??? We have miles we could use but they want way to may miles for the flights -- what ever happened to the 20,000 miles that we used to fly for!!! We keep checking all possible airlines finding them to be lots of $$$$ also. Then you havethe baggage fees on top of that. I have also noticed that the flights are pretty empty at this point. Guess that the wait continues!!! Good luck to everyone!

Yeah it seams not the North West is gone so are the Deals out of MSP?

Also I hear you $315.00 is starting to look good :( Don't knwo what to do, I knwo if I book it they will come down and if I wait they will go up (just my luck) We also said anything at $250 or under we will book, But we are not thinking anything unter $275.00 I don't know. But forsure would like to hold out a little longer!

The day SW released fares for our travel dates, we jumped right on them. Ended up paying $262 (not much more than our target of $250) plus we'll get the free luggage, which will be helpful traveling in Dec and packing a wider range of clothes. Usually we're able to just do carry-ons when we travel in the summer. I would have loved to have flown Delta to get more miles, but couldn't justify it.

Another option is looking at Allegiant flights out of Duluth... They only fly a couple days a week and only one flight a day, but if you can get the fares on sale, there's good prices to be had. At the beginning of June DS and I took an impromptu trip and we paid $83/person RT (we didn't pay for any extras like assigned seating or for luggage). However, you have to rent a car or hire a service since you fly into Sanford... this makes the price creep up again. We did hear lots of people talking on our flight that they had drove from the Twin Cities or places in mid-Wisconsin to take advantage of the cheaper fares.

We will have to look into it thanks! Only thing is having to rent a car for the full week could wash out any savings on the flight. But I def will look into it, thanks!:goodvibes

Well we will just have to keep holding out hope they will move in our fav just a bit!:goodvibes

We're flying out of MSP in October and ended up paying $315 roundtrip PP to MCO. I tracked flights for nearly a year, watching prices and seat availability. Prices have been high all along, except for the first day they were released and then it was $222 PP RT. (Silly me, thought I'd wait for it to go down to about $200 before booking it...) Now, we're cruising on DCL so we don't have much flexibility with times and dates...and also wanted to avoid Sun Country only because they run fewer flights, so you're out of luck if your flight is canceled for some reason. So for non-stop flights (traveling with 3 small boys!) in October, we were left with Delta. They combined 2 flights on both the way down and back, thus filling the planes quickly and prices then shot up well above the $315 we paid. That seemed like a lot compared to what we have paid before, but now I'm glad we booked at that fare!
