That's true of any airline - not just Delta. The rules are established by the TSA, not the airlines.

Totally true, we brought back wine from our trip to Napa Valley in our checked bags. Just make sure your liquids are sealed nice and tight so it doesn't bust open during the flight.

It might not be a bad idea to pack you liquids in zip lock bags just incase they leak or explode during the flight.
