Has anyone flown into Long Beach to go to DLR? How far is that? Is there a shuttle service from that airport? JetBlue has some great rates.

My family and I have flown in Long Beach with Jetblue and think it's great. In fact we just booked today for our trip to DLR in may. There is not a shuttle service to my knowledge but we get Red Van or a taxi to pick us up. It is not to far to DLR maybe 20-30 minutes depending on traffic. Be advised that Long Beach is a small airport and there is not much to do, a lot of Jetblue's gates are in trailers but it is fairly easy to get through security. We prefer it to John Wayne.

WE LOVED IT

I can not say enough great stuffa bout it.

I didn't take a shuttle so I'm no help but it's a great little airport.

We just used JetBlue into Long Beach for the first time in November. It was great! Very small airport, No McD's or anything like that. There is a flat cab rate to Disneyland area hotels. It is either $40 or $45. Are you doing this planning for the ladies trip? And if so, which airport are you flying out of?

Love flying into Long Beach. Only about 30 minutes to DL. It's so small that baggage claim is outside.

I always rent a car but there are shuttles available. Not regularly scheduled, but you could arrange for a pick up. Supershuttle and Prime Time come to mind.

I am curious about this...we are flying into LGB for the first time on the 30th, and renting a car. Are the car rental counters easy to locate?

We love LGB & JetBlue! We've used them for our past 2 trips and we're flying with them & landing there in March. We use a car service, our drivers name is Ron and his business card says VIP Service (Kim Sontha Transportation). The number is (562) 396-8106 (company number) OR the number where he has always answered is 562-895-6713 ~ he is from Cambodia (or somewhere near there) so it a little hard to understand but a sweet guy. He's picked us up in a Lexus SUV & a Toyota Highlander ~ we pay $50 total each way, I've had 5 people in our group each time.

Everything is easy to locate. If you fly JetBlue, you'll come into the South Gates. All other airlines come into the North Gates. Don't let that mislead you though, there are only 9 gates in South and 3 in North. Told ya it was small.

Follow the signs to baggage claim, don't get confused and think you missed it if you see the exit doors. Baggage claim is outside. Cross the street and you are at the Ground Transporation and Parking garage. There's a little building that has the rental car desks, I think there's only 4, maybe 5 companies.

Here's a map

Oh, and a word of warning if you've never done it before. There are no jetways to the plans. You will walk down a flight of stairs and across the tarmac to get to the gates. If you are on a JetBlue flight and are toward the back of the plan, turn around and wait for the rear doors to be opened. They deplane from both doors. You may be some funny looks but then when those doors open the unsuspecting will understand.

Flew in there in December and it was great. Rented a car on priceline for the first time and it was cheap and easy. Easy to get to DL. Have previously flown into SNA, but given the cheap prices to Long Beach we will go there again.

Yes I am going to the Ladies Trip!:cool1: But it looks like I will be driving down after all. I am coming from the SF Bay Area.
Thank you everyone for the great information! :)

Just for others who may read this thread, we had a great experience with Jet Blue and LGB as well. LOVE the small airport with virtually NO security wait! And it's so stinkin' cute! Plus JetBlue has a lot of nice perks (TVs with direct tv on the seats, free snacks!). There were 6 of us, so we pricelined a van for what would have been about the same as a shuttle both ways.
