Hi ALL!
Considering flying into Tampa instead of MCO and RSW.
Has anyone had any tips as to what rental company and best route to exit the Airport for a trip to Fort Myers and return from WDW.?
Thanks!

I have flown into tampa a few times and have always used Alamo.
It is offsite but only a 5 minute ride and it is close to the highway.
As to the route to Ft. M, I have no clue, but, we did do I4 to Orlando, no tolls, nice road, took about 1 hour, 15 min. to OKW.

We flew into Tampa last May and rented (easily) from Dollar. Everything was fine and the price was right. Dollar is located at the airport, which was very convenient.

We flew in and out of Tampa last Dec, using Budget rental cars. It was quick and easy. They are located right at the airport. We loved flying in and out of Tampa because it seemed so much smaller and easier to get out of.

The route to Orlando is well marked. Coming out of Tampa International follow the signs to I-275 N (exit 39b) which goes east toward downtown Tampa, stay in the right hand lane and merge to I-4 east to Orlando.

To Fort Myers from the airport, just follow the same route (I-4) but take I-75 S. I-75 S intersects with I-4 about 8 miles from downtown Tampa. Just follow the signs.

As Gail said, it is a very easy trip to Orlando and you can be on WDW property in less than an hour and a half. There is construction on I-4 east of Lakeland, due to widening of the road.

hi there. we are flying into tampa on thanksgiving morning. we go to sarasota to visit the dgm and dgf first, then drive to disney a few days later. and then fly home from orlando. we are using avis because they are located in the terminal at both tampa and orlando. i was able to find a lower rate just a few days ago so i cancelled my original minivan ($501 for a week including tax) and switched to a full size ($250 inc. tax). we used rate code t810099 to receive that rate. we have used avis many times before and have always been happy. good luck. terry

We rented from National, Emerald Aisle, a few years ago when we flew into Tampa. It was quick and easy. The drive to WDW wasn't very long either.

We flew in there!! It was cheap and easy. We rented from thrifty without problems and they were on site!!

National is no longer onsite at Tampa, they now share offsite space with Alamo. BUT.....they still have EA.
