We're considering flying into SFB instead of MCO for our next trip but was wondering if there are any disadvantages to doing so? I should add that we always rent a car ourselves even when we fly into MCO. Other than it being slightly farther away is there really any disadvantage to this?

Flights seem less, we can direct flights (albeit only on certain days), and from what I understand the airport is less congested than MCO? What am I missing here?

When you step onto sidewalk from the arrivals door .... the car rental check in area is 20 yards away .

When you leave the car rental car park ( Behind the car check in area ) there are no ramps to contend with .

it is a 5 min drive to get onto the 417

Not sure if it is the norm, but for our dates this spring the cost of rental cars at Sanford are about 3x as expensive as MCO. Check the price difference of rental cars before deciding.

The only caution I would make really involves your airline choice. If there is only 1 flight a day, how will you adjust if the flight is cancelled? I've looked at some of the low airfare airlines and it seemed that they charged for EVERYTHING (advance seat assignments, checked bags, carryon bags, etc). After all that, for me, it was beer to fly into MCO on one of the major airlines.

Time to/from airport is pretty excessive, compared to MCO. If your 1 flight out is at 8 AM it will suck
