Flying into SFB: car rental or transfer

I just booked an insanely cheap, non-stop flight from our small, local airport to SFB for $59 each way (plus taxes & fees). This is fantastic, considering we usually book through an airport about 1- 1.25 hrs away for $89 each way to MCO, but this flight is currently selling for $122 each way for the non-stop that we like & during the time that we want to go. I would much rather drive the extra distance in Florida rather than on the icy Michigan roads this winter...

Now, since we can't do the DME, does anyone know of a super affordable way to get to Disney? The cheapest taxi or town car that I am finding is $110 round trip, while the cheapest car rental I see is $230 for the week (7 nights). I'm hoping that I can try to get a car rental closer to the time of the trip (this should be off-season). I really don't want to spend all of the money that I just saved on transfers...

Anything else that I'm not thinking of? Thanks so much!

You have 3 options. Take a taxi, use a car service or rent a car. The first two are relatively expensive but the distance is pretty far. A rental is typically the cheapest option and some people won't keep a car the entire time. The cheapest method is to have a 1 day rental at the beginning and another 1 day rental at the end.

You've learned what many have learned the hard way. SFB can have some great fares but it's really for people who had planned to rent a car anyway, even if they had flown into MCO.

I love flying into Sanford..it's a wonderful little airport. And the drive to WDW is fairly easy, but it does take close to an hour.
I have had a car service as well as rented a car. The car service is close to $200 (including tip), but you do get a grocery stop. I have rented cars lately. But, as you are finding, it can be expensive. Try for 2 1-day rentals to get you to WDW and then back to Sanford. Keep checking rates and when you see a rate you are happy with, book it.
