It's over an hour drive to both PHL(Philly) and EWR(Newark) for us and we flew out of ABE (Allentown) into Sanford last spring when we went to WDW. It saved us over $100 per ticket! When I booked our cruise I asked the TA which was easier for us MCO or SFB and she stated that MCO is about 1 1/2 hours and SFB is 45 min but that SFB had no trans to Cape Canaverial. I don't want to do MEARS since I think I can do better $$ wise. Does CC have a car rental agency or drop off? What agencys are there? What about a town car? I have plenty of time, I know but want to start figuring out just how much I need to sock away.

I'm sure you can find a towncar service from Sanford to Port Canaveal. Happy Limo appears to be very popular. Check the DIS Transportation board for more info.

As for car rentals Avis, and Budget appear to be the most popular. We've used Avis in the past, and it worked very well. Both have shuttles from the port to the car rental agency. Check www.dcltribute.com , or www.castawayclub.com for more info.

Since we live in tha area, I can't comment about available transport services/rental cars. I'm sure they will be easy to get.
However, I think your TA has the times backwards on travel from MCO to the port vs Sanford to the port. From MCO, the port is a straight shot east on the Beeline. Can't get a more direct route! From Sanford, which is somewhat North, you either have to take the Greeneway Toll Road 417 south about 20 miles to get to the Beeline just east of MCO, or go east from Sanford on SR 46 to I95 just nort of Titusville and then go south about 15 miles on I95. Either way is longer than from MCO straight to the port. 45 minutes is about right for MCO to the Port and I'm guessing the
1 1/2 hours is closer to the time from Sanford to the port. If you can save on airfare, I would still do Sanford. Never been there, but I would guess it would be easier to get in and out of than the busy MCO

We flew into SFB on Southeast Airline for our cruise in May. They have the usual compliment of car rental agencies at SFB, which also have offices at the Cape. We chose Avis since their office was right at the Raddison where we were staying. This office has since moved.

We got directions and researched the available agencies using www.dcltribute.com. The airport also has information at www.orlandosanfordairport.com.
