We've only been once, and we drove from Dallas to Hilton Head last time. We took the scenic route there and drove 16 hours straight back. If we were to consider flying in, what airport do most of you select?

We flew into Savannah, GA, rented a car and drove the 45 minutes or so to the resort.

You can also fly into Charleston, SC, which I think is about 1 1/2 hour drive to the resort.

Hilton Head has a small airport, and if you don't mind little planes you can fly into that airport.

Actually HH is a 2 hour drive with little to see along the way.

If my mom can drive from Savannah to HH it must be easy! She flew in from JFK & met us at HH on 11/21

Thanks guys. Anyone know which airlines fly into Savannah? I'm not a fan of little planes either!!

Hi. I just pulled up the website for that airport (http://www.savannahairport.com), and it notes the following airlines have daily arrivals...........
AirTran
Continental
Delta
Independence Air
Northwest
United
US Air

I've been through SAV. It's a beautiful, quaint airport that easily serves it's purpose. From what I recall, it took about 55 minutes to get from SAV to DVC HH. Keep in mind, however, that I WAS DRIVING. If DW were driving, it would have been 45 minutes tops (my sense of direction is generally HORRID).

Good luck!

Wow, I just drove my daughter back to Charleston from HH yesterday and thought the drive was gorgeous! We took the back roads, with marshland, live oaks, and Spanish moss all along the way. You can also go to I-95, which is a little farther, but goes quickly because of the Interstate. Either way it's about 2 hours.

Just be careful when you're checking into flights -- they've changed the name of the Savannah airport to "Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport", which is definitely not the same as the little commuter airport on Hilton Head! Not sure, but I think USAir may still fly directly into Hilton Head from Charlotte (you'd have to connect there). But, you'll want to rent a car while you're there, and I think your options for that are much better out of Savannah, anyhow.

It's a little further (2+ hours) but we flew into Columbia as the rates to Savannah were much higher close to the holiday. It's a pretty straight shot up I-95 and across I-26. Rental car rates are good there too.
