Flying in at 6:30pm... how long will it take for my bags to get there?

I will be traveling with little kids and I just realized it might take awhile for my bags to get there. We arrive at MCO at 6:30 in the evening. So I assume we won't get to AKL until about 7:30.
How much longer will we have to wait for our luggage? My kids will probably be ready for bed not much after we arrive.

If it were me, I'd just pack jammies and anything needed to get ready for bed/sleep into a carryon bag.

When traveling (not just to WDW) always bring along your necessities for the first night in your carryon. You never know when the airline is going to send your baggage somewhere else.

I think the official answer is 3 hours after your arrival.

However, so far we have had our bags within an hour of getting into our room. Last year our bags came within about 20 minutes.....that was a real surprise.

If you think it will be too late and bother your kids you can have them delay the deliver until the next morning. You could also attach a note to your room door saying to knock softly as the kids are sleeping.

We have landed at 7ish three times now and each time our bags were in the room by 9 but they do say up to three hrs and we do bring stuff the kids might need as carry on

DME info packet tells us to expect luggage delivery to resort rooms within 3 hrs after resort checkin. So..if you land at 6:30, you should be at your resort by 7:45ish. Time starts when you get to the gate, not when the plane actually 'lands'. If you checkin at 7:45ish, you can expect your bags anytime before 11, most likely sooner.
The resort you are at makes a difference as well. The deluxe resorts seem to do a better job of getting bags disbursed quickly.

Oh gosh. Well hopefully also since it is in January(slow season) and we are staying at a deluxe it will get there before then! I guess I will pack the kids jammies just incase! Thanks!

Always pack a carryon bag with anything you are going to need for the first 8-10 hrs of your trip. The airlines misdirect bags all the time...you don't want the bag with your kids things going to Pittsburgh while you are in Orlando!!! And it is usually the airlines error, not DME's.
I would pack a bag with the kids pj's, toiletries and maybe even clean shirts and underwear for the next morning. If you do that, it's a safe bet that all your bags will arrive, intact, about 90 mins after you checkin!!!!
The only time I have not packed my carryon properly was the one time I needed to.

Definitely pack what you are going to need to sleep that night and maybe even for the next day. When we flew in 2009 to WDW, our plane arrived around 6:00. We didn't get our luggage (since that is one huge perk for us in our decision to use ME). Anyway, we got to POP and walked around the resort and ate. When we returned to our room a little after 9:00, I thought our luggage would be there. It wasn't. My husband called bell service just to make sure our luggage was there and even offered to come pick it up. They told us they'd soon deliver it. Well, we waited and waited and waited some more :rolleyes1 and still no luggage. Thankfully, I had packed our pj's in our carry-ons. By this time our kids were already sound-a-sleep in bed. Long story short we got our luggage at 3:00 am! :scared1: In the course of DH calling and them repeatedly telling us they were on their way, DH and I fell asleep. I awoke at 3:00 in the morning and still no luggage. DH called one more time and someone was there with it in minutes. I have no idea what they were doing - we were told many people had checked in that day and they were backlogged - but, boy was I glad we had everything we needed for that night.

I'll be honest, for our next trip I was a little skeptical about using ME, but DH didn't want to pay for a car service so we used ME and I can happily report we got our luggage delivered in our WL room very quickly.
