For our Disney Dream Cruise in 2011, we plan on driving the 4 hours to SYR and flying out from there. If we do this, Where do we park our van? Does SYR have a park and Fly? If not, where do we park, and then get a shuttle to the airport?

You can park right at the Syracuse Airport- no problem. You do not need a shuttle as the airport is right there. Whatever you do, DO NOT lose your ticket. You pay for parking when you return from Florida. They have machines everywhere. My DH have left our vehicle there and have had no problems. Likewise, we have also stayed at the Holiday Inn (I think) and they had a park and fly for $160 for the week including our night's stay. Syracuse is a very easy airport to maneuver around. :wizard:

If the airport itself has parking, thats PERFECT! Do you know how much the week long parking costs are? The prices I can find now when I just looked it up are based on 6 to 24 hour parking, but we will need to park for 9 nights.

The Syracuse airport has a parking garage as well as open lot parking. The parking garage is closest to the terminal; the open lot is behind the parking garage. Parking rates are $6.50 for a 24 hour period in the open lot and $8.00 for a 24 hour period in the garage. If your car is parked for 9 nights, it'll be approximately 9 times the above rates plus the local sales tax rate.

There's also a Best Western hotel on the Syracuse airport grounds with a complimentary airport shuttle. At one time, hotel guests could leave their vehicles in the hotel parking lot while on their trip (I think the max might have been 7 nights). I don't see this listed on their website but you could call & ask if it was more convenient to spend the night at the airport before or after your cruise. Hope this helps!

This will be old information when the OP goes. As of July 1, 2010, the open lot parking is going up to $8.00 and the garage parking is going up to $10.00 a day. I'm also pretty sure (I'd have to look back at my expense reports) that the tax is included in the rate, but I could be wrong.

Not to change the subject, but did you check airfare out of Buffalo? I know we always find it much cheaper than Syracuse, more airline choices (including non stop flights) and wouldn't it be a shorter drive for you?

I wasn't aware of that change - thanks for the update!

check rochester as well. flights for us in august were as much as $150 per ticket cheaper in august. Long term parking there is $5.50 per day.

Syracuse is closest to us at just under 4 hours away. Buffalo is just over 6 hours away and Rochester is just over 5 hours away.
Plattsburgh NY is the same distance away from us as Syracuse and Allegiant Airlines have pretty fabulous flight rates but they don't seem to fly on the days we need. This would mean two extra Hotel days at each end of our trip than we already need, and I think that bumps the price up to the same or close to what we can get out of Syracuse. Allegiant also charges for each baggage and snacks/meals and for booking online, ect..... But their parking is free. Tough decisions but lots of time to make them in. Thanks for all the tips and info though. I'll look into best western, we may want to stay overnight on our return flight instead of getting off the plane at 6pm and then driving 4 hours home.
