Hi everyone,

I've been scouting for a few weeks for my August trip. I live in lower Delaware, so to fly I will have to drive 1 1/2 to 2 hours for a flight. It is relatively equal distance to fly from Philly or Baltimore and there is now a small airport about the same distance that has Frontier flights. Frontier airline hasn't updated their flights past August 10th and we are flying out on the 18th. Have any of you had any experience flying to Orlando from either Philly or Baltimore and if so, what do you like or dislike about them? Or has anyone flown Frontier from the Wilmington/Philly hub in New Castle?

Thanks in advance,
Stacy

I would wait and check when Frontier opens flights for then out of Wilmington( New Castle) we fly out of there in 2 weeks to Orlando and they have been the cheapest plus I think the parking is still free will let you know.

My parents live near Dover, and my dad has flown Frontier out of New Castle and hated it. I don't know what about it that he hated, but he's a former airline mechanic and will rant for days about airports and planes.

When I was living in Delaware and flying to Orlando, I always flew JetBlue out of DCA, personally. It was a longer drive than BWI or PHL, but I used a nice hotel nearby with a great park-and-fly deal (I think it was a Holiday Inn).

I do love the BWI airport, though. PHL is okay but I've had bags get lost every time I've gone through there so I feel like it may be cursed. :lmao:

We flew put of new castle via frontier in September and it was a breeze!!!! Sooooo much easier and less congested than philly. Parking is free, and literally a 2 minute walk from the terminal. Your flight will likely be the only flight out while you are there, it is that small. The people are friendly and helpful. The only issue is the frequency, but they have added more flights than they had in September so if the dates they offer work for you I would definitely recommend them. I am flying out of Philly tomorrow, but would have done ILG if they had a return flight on the day I have to return.

Right as I speaK southwest has several flights on the 18th from BWI to MCO for $112. You wont find anything less than that

We are an hour from PHL and over two hours from BWI, but for the last several years we have been flying out of BWI. I always seem to find cheaper flights to MCO.

Thanks for all the responses. I saw the flights at BWI, but are there no direct flights from there? I'd rather spend a little more and not have a connecting flight.

Are you flying to Orlando?

If so there are lots of direct SW flights each day.

Hi there, I'm in Sussex County also. We have flown from BWI and PHI. I love BWI, it is a breeze to get to, park and the airport itself is easy to navigate. I hated Philly. The traffic is so much worse in that area and at least when we went it seemed like we were walking in circles to get where we needed to be. I haven't flown out of New Castle but my brother has and loved it. He said that it was a breeze from parking to boarding.

Thanks everyone, I just went on southwest's site and found nonstop flights from BWI, I'm not sure what I was doing before but they weren't coming up. Frontier out of New Castle still doesn't have the dates I need up. I appreciate all of your knowledge!

we are right on the MD/DE line and always make the drive to BWI. I refuse to fly out of Salisbury because of US Air. Hate Philly because we always have problems there. Flying SW direct flight to Orlando in 2 weeks!

Ok we head out tomorrow from New Castle( Wilm ) and we checked Sunday and parking is still free there, will report back how things went next week after we get back.

I would book SWA out of BWI. Because no baggage fee's plus they allow you to change your reservation for free. They will be having their annual birthday sale in June which covers flights from mid-Aug to mid-Dec so you might get a good deal and if you have already bought your SWA ticket you can get a refund in the form of a travel voucher to be used within one year.

I think sw out of BWI will be our best bet since a friend has decided to go with us whose hubby will drive us to the airport. Also, Their fares are the cheapest right now plus as the previous poster said, two checked bags for free. Even Wilmington is more expensive at this time, although parking is free.

I don't think Frontier flies into MCO in Orlando, I think they fly to Sanford, which means you have to find your own transportation to Disney which will be an added cost.

Ok we just returned and flying out of New Castle was fine, we only did carry on but on the return trip into New Castle the baggage claim area is very small and the folks waiting tend to block the walkway to get thru the airport, plus side is the plane is only a couple of hundred feet from the terminal.
We have already said we plan to use them again for Disney trips just wished the day they fly were better.
