Just wondering what the pros and cons of each might be. The first obvious pro of Flying Fish is that we can use the DDE card there!

Well, both have great atmosphere, but the food has the potential to be a little odd at Blue Zoo. Last time we ate there, they didn't have an ordinary menu, it was just weird. The fellow diners were a bit :snooty:, too. The portions are on the small side, I can understand people liking it, but I guess it's just a little too "funky" for my taste. As far as I know they have changed a bit since though. It's a good place to go get an afterdinner drink or snack, but I personally would pick FF for dinner.

Thanks!
The menu on AllEars is old, but the bluezoo website has a more current one. The food SOUNDS good, but I can see where it has the potential to be a little different. DH is going to have a coronary when he sees the prices, and if the portions are small then I won't be able to argue that we're getting a lot of food for the money!:rotfl:

Anyone else?

This was just our personal experience, BUT: We ate at Todd's Blue Zoo on Christmas the year before last. The waiter was very snobby. He made a big deal of the water and whether we wanted tap or bottled. I first said tap, and he made some comment , and meanwhile my husband was going to try to convice me to get Bottled anyway cuz he was thinking that it was a special occasion (I was planning on drinking WINE!!!). So after the waiter went all snobby on the water we went with the bottled. But the whole meal the waiter just had that kind of feel that I was worried whether I was choosing expensive enough choices to suit the waiter' preferences!!!

Last summer we ate at Flying Fish. Our waitress was superb. The service was warm and friendly. The food was awesome. The food was good at the Blue Zoo also, it's just that I remember it so much better at FF since the whole experience was so nice.

I love both of these restaurants. If you have never been to bluezoo, I would recommend that you give it a try. The ambience is very nice, and the food was very good. Particularly liked the "Flying Fish" (he he), which is their fresh whole fish of the day cooked on a rotating skewer-like thingy. I didn't really think that the atmosphere or the waitstaff was snobby, but then maybe we just had a friendly waiter. On the other hand, I've always had great meals at the Flying Fish as well. It is a bit louder, but the atmosphere is really fun. Have fun deciding! I don't think that you can go wrong with either one!

FF has been my favorite WDW restaurant since we first started going back in the stone age...That said the 2008 version of FF does not compare to the offerings of the Blue Zoo unless you are going for A) the Charred NY Strip or 2) the risotto. For seafood alone Blue Zoo wins (hands down, DDE excepted). Also, re: the risotto at FF, it is still good but not nearly as good as it was under Chef John or Chef Jens. JMO.:)

Ambiance: The grill bar at FF can't be beat but the FF is noisy. The BZ is contemporary and chic and way more romantic.

Both will be good but for seafood alone Blue Zoo gets the nod.

Bluezoo has my single favorite dish, anywhere - the clam chowder is a thing of beauty.

Cocktails are interesting and tasty, and the ambiance is "adult" and sophisticated.

Budget $50 per person if you're going to have wine with dinner. What you'll get is one of the better $50 meals you can find at an upscale restaurant, and a meal that's on par with anything you can get at California Grill.

Tough call, but the DDE thing certainly makes FF especially attractive. IF I'd never been to either one, I'd go with FF first, then Blue Zoo.

We enjoy both restaurants. BlueZoo is probably more "adult friendly" than FF, but the service and food quality are fairly equal. I'm a bit partial to FF because I love their potato encrusted red snapper. Otherwise, I would flip a coin and pick one, you'll enjoy either place.

Both are excellent choices, and have great food. All things being considered, that DDE discount could make the difference for us.

I have to agree here. We've been to Bluezoo twice and liked it. However, I've had better meals at FF. I really enjoy sitting at the kitchen bar, and the service is great.

I've eaten at both. I'd probably give Flying Fish the edge, since I really loved the snapper there, and have been craving it, but both restaurants are very good.

Thanks for all your replies! :goodvibes

I think we might go for Flying Fish. Our party consists of me, DH, and DS11. We can deal with loud, and romantic isn't really a requirement. We don't drink wine, and cocktails are pretty rare for us, too. DS doesn't eat much, and he doesn't really like to try new things.

Looking at the bluezoo menu I think we would be spending about $175 by the time we added tax and tip, and that is if DS orders from the kids' menu!:scared1: We're going to Cali Grill and Citrico's on other nights, and we'll be there a total of 16 nights so I don't know that I want to spend that much on dinner that isn't for a special occasion.

I think we might give Flying Fish a try. :)
