Flying first class?

There is one American Airlines flight a day between Miami and O'Hare that is operated with a 767-300ER. This plane is typically used on international flights, but finds its way on some domestic flights between major American Airlines hubs. If you happen to be on this flight, you will have a seat that folds out 180 degrees flat into a bed, at a slight angle. A very nice, comfortable seat indeed. It's a true premium product, the one American Airlines uses to Brazil, Italy, etc.

There is also one American Airlines flight a day between Dallas and Chicago - AA 86 - operated by a 777-200ER. This plan is American Airlines' flagship. The first class is composed of individual cabins for each passenger, with seats that fold fully flat and horizontal into a bed, and with a second seat in the cabin so that a guest can join you for a meal.

If you don't have that particular flight on your return, Orlando-Miami-Chicago, it is totally worth trying to switch to it. Otherwise, domestic first class is nothing special.

The flight is AA 295. It leaves Miami at 3PM. However, starting in November, it will no longer operate with this aircraft, so not sure what date you have.

If you really want to "experience" first class, then call up American Airlines awards service desk and ask to be rebooked on an intenary that takes you to/from Orlando on one of those flights - assuming that the schedule works for you and you don't mind the connections. Since you booked on award mileage, I think you might be able to change without penalty, pending award availability.

Otherwise, I'm afraid you'll be awfully disappointed.

Something that I really like about first class, (this may sound silly to some), is the fact you don't have to worry about dealing with the beverage cart in the aisle when you want to use the restroom. KWIM?

Your afternoon flights will begin with heated mixed nuts... morning flights will end with baked-in-flight chocolate chip cookies before final approach. This is in addition to food and continuous beverage service on authentic china, flatware and glassware. Drinks before take off are standard from ORD, even in the morning. I fly into and out of ORD almost weekly and if space is available I sit in FC.

Oh, all this talk of in-flight cookies, extra wide leather seats, leg room, and foot/head rests reminds me of the everyday service provided by Midwest Airlines...now if we could just get them to fly to every city:hippie:

Just remember to arrive early so you can get boarded and enjoy those amenities longer. Also, my fav. 1st class item, REAL DISHES. My only problem is I love to sleep while flying (I could never be a pilot or FA) so I feel I miss out on a lot 'cause I'm snoozing.
