We need to buy airline tickets for spring break and right now the prices are insane ($500 -$1200 pp). For those who have traveled during spring break weeks before, is it better to just bite the bullet and book now, or do prices go down at all?

Haven't travelled during spring break, but no one can answer your question. Prices have a LOT of variables...
* Time of year
* Time of day
* Departure City
* Destination City
* Airline

Changing any of those will change the pricing. I'd even hazard saying looking at past performances isn't a guideline for what will happen in the future.

Chomp chomp chomp
I tried not to once it only got worse - ended up having to drive which I HATE - learned my lesson - they are high and I just suck it up as I can’t stand the drive
My family feels different - I offered to meet them there - funny they flew Haa haa
It does suck they cost SO much more
Good Luck!!!

Spring break can mean a lot of things also. Some schools are out in March some schools are out closer to whenever Easter falls. Spring break can be a long period of time. That being said I had sticker shock yesterday at the price of Southwest flights. Ended up booking JetBlue on a nonstop flight for less than a flight with stops on Southwest even after considering luggage costs.

RDU to LAX round trip nonstop $300 pp after luggage and taxes. Excited to see Disneyland!

Try different airports. For example, if you're in New England, check Boston, Providence, Hartford, and Manchester.

I'm in New England and have checked Portland, Boston, Manchester, Providence, Worcester, and Hartford. We usually pay around $250-$300 for a non-stop roundtrip flight. The $500 tickets are for 2 stops. I've also tried not flying on the weekends.

There's no way I'd drive. It's a 28 hour drive each way for us.

You just confirmed what I thought. I guess I'm just going to have to bite the bullet. Now I just need to decide if its worth 2 stops to get the least expensive tickets.

What week are you looking at, April 10? I just booked round trip JetBlue from Providence for $327. And that was the "Blue" fare. They had "Blue Basic" for even less.

It isn't.

We're going the week of April 16th. Not going to WDW, but to Miami.
Hm, the only other tricks I can think of would be to price two one way flights separately rather than a round trip. That way, if one airline has a more reasonable outbound flight and another airline has a more reasonable inbound flight, you can mix and match. I'll also add that there are huge price fluctuations day-to-day that time of year. If you have any flexibility in your dates, the cost of flying on a Tuesday could be a fraction of the cost of flying on a Saturday.

Thank you. I've tried the two one way trick too. I also tried flying out on a Thursday and back on Monday/Tuesday. I think between spring break week and Easter I'm just stuck. Luckily I booked the international portion of the trip a while ago. While the price wasn't great it wasn't bad. It's now tripled in price. I thought I'd hold off on the to/from Miami part hoping for prices to come down, but that hasn't happened.

They should go down in price . We never buy this early for spring break . Get on an app like Hopper to stay aware of the prices .
Yes, we are frequent flyers we buy our tickets about two weeks before.... and still they sometimes go down ...
the cheapest day to fly is Wednesday & Thursday.
Always shop for tickets incognito on your phone/ computer they track you.
I use skyscanner.com and skiplagged
Skiplagged ( airlines hate) searches all routes that go to that city... some are layovers in the city you are trying to go to, so you never go on the transfer portion.

We live in South Florida check MIA and FLL
I found it's cheaper to fly into Fort Lauderdale (FLL) but not always. There is also PBI but that airport is expensive. The trirail train runs between all three.... and by then Brightline will back as well

For anyone that is considering this, it is called hidden city ticketing. It violates the contract of carriage and the least of an issue is that you won't get any FF points if you do this. You could also be banned from the airline and you absolutely can not have checked luggage if you attempt this. Many hidden city tickets have been foiled through schedule changes, the airline can change your connection point.

We are looking for airfare for February. We are in New England (VT) and the prices are crazy. I feel like most of the airlines abandoned us last year during covid. JetBlue is the worst in costs which is so sad. This is the airline that we have always been loyal to. They changed their schedules and the limited flights are not great. I wish that the new airline, Breeze Airways, would come up this way.

you may consider Orlando and driving. I have priced out fort lauderdale and Miami before and it’s always a lot more.
Price difference would have to be substantial for me to do that. It's a 3-3:30 hour drive one way.

Have you looked at flying Allegiant to FLL? We drove to Plattsburgh once (2 hours) to fly cheap and direct to FLL and it was worth it!
