I will be flying a Delta carrier (I think it is Delta Song) to Orlando for my wedding. Anyone flown delta there with their dress? Should I call the airline and let them know I am will be bringing it on with me or should I just go ahead and take it? I am somewhat worried about this...

I think I remember someone talking about this about a month or two ago. They said you should tell them when you check in, I think, that you have your gown with you and if there is a space in the front closet thing they can put it there. She also said that the overhead storage containers were pretty empty lately due to the changing of what you can and can't carry. Of course, they've made it where you CAN have carry on luggage again. So, I don't know if that helps, but I would tell them when you were getting on the plane so that they know and maybe they'll offer to put it in that closet thing. Well, good luck! :thumbsup2

haha I started that previous thread too- I just want to make sure that things are okay and people (here lately) are still getting on with their dress! Thanks :wave2:

I purchased my dress in Chicago, live in Texas and the wedding's in Florida (oy) so last weekend I flew back to Texas from Chicago with my dress and carried it on (American Airlines) without any problem. It was a 777 and the flight attendant did NOT offer to put it in the closet (I didn't ask either) but it fit in the overhead with my roller (I was in the business class section as that's coach on that flight) and I had no problem.

One thing to note - the security conveyer belts are DIRTY and the outside of my dress bag has black marks on it now.

If you are flying on a Song plane there is no closet to hang your dress in. We flew home on Song and they put my dress in the storage bin where they keep the pillows, blankets and the flight attendants personal belongings. I didn't care since it was after the wedding. Most regular Delta planes do have a closet and the attendants were very nice to us and let us board early and hung my dress in the closet and made sure it wasn't squished.

Good luck.

I flew AUS (Austin) to MCO via Delta (smalllll plane) and they put my dress in the captains coat closet. I did not let it out of my sight. When we landed the attendant made an announcement to remind me to pick up my dress (like I would forget!!!). Everybody cheered & clapped! I flew in the day b4 my dh did.
