Flying car technology for HP???

I found this video on youtube of the backstage tour at Universal Studios Hollywood. Near the end it shows some interesting technology that maybe is a bit like what the Harry Potter ride kuka arm might be like.

I didn't look at the video, but I'm assuming you are talking about the Fast and the Furious Extreme Close Up.

It infact works off of the same Kuka arm technology and more than likely is exactly what Universal has in mind...along with a screen of some sort surrounding the arm.

Universal just signed a deal to bring the Kuka arm to its park exclusively for ten years. Disney was going to do an incredibles ride with this same technology, but they didnt want to pay for it. So, the arm goes to Universal.

Yup. It looks like it could be a lot of fun. I thought this video would give people an idea of the possibilities.

Definately. I believe Disney is currently using one of the Kuka arms it previously purchased in their new Nemo ride to run one of the fish.

Of coarse it gives people an idea of the possibilities. The next step is to put the arm on a roller coaster track and move it thru a movie set. It's almost like BTTF except the car would move.

Think of Spiderman on a roller coaster track.

i was just on the Nemo ride this year....i don't recall anything w/ a Kuka arm :confused3 I remember sitting in a "clamshell" (think HM) and riding along in front of screens w/ a projected movie.......:confused3

Do you remember seeing the fish with the big teeth and the light thing on its head moving VERY VERY fast around? Thats what they're referring to.

That thing freaked me out when I first saw it!

Im quite glad they didn't add that Fast and Furious um, "show" here...it makes no sense why the cars start flying around, plus they're not even japanese like F&F3 was supposed to be, they're volkswagens (I know, park sponsors, right)

I don't think that was really a show but just one of the sound stage thingies that the backstage tours go through. It changes every now and then and really is one of the best parts of Universal Hollywood. That part wasn't there when we did Universal Hollywood three years ago.

The issue with Kuka arms is the low capacity. Under the normal configuration, it only holds 4 people. I'm sure it can make for a good attraction though, assuming they use it to it's full potential.
