I've decided to take a quick trip to Disney from January 12th to January 17th.

There are flights out of JFK for those dates at $135 RT, but JFK is about 2 1/2 hours away from me.

Out of Albany the lowest is $238, so saving $200 is worth the drive to me (I'm not rich).

So, my questions is, should I wait for Southwest to open up flights for those dates, while risking the $135 out of JFK, or should I just bite the bullet? Too much drama.

SW should be under $200 but you might not get it as low as $135. What will you be spending on tolls, gas and parking if you drive to JFK? I bet it will be over $100 and if you're near enough to the Albany airport you may be able to have a friend drive you there for free.

Suppose the weather in Albany is OK but there is snow either in NYC or just en-route. I don't think I'd enjoy a vacation if I was afraid that bad weather might kill my trip to or from the airport.

I wouldn't start my vacation with a long drive to a NE airport in the winter. I think I'd gamble that SW will have fares that I could live with.
