Is there any drawbacks to flying 2 airlines? We are looking at booking sun country to MCO and air tran back. The flight back saves us $150 and the time is only an hour difference than sun country. Airtran direct to MCO doesnt get in until 7pm. Where with sun country we would get in by noon. To get in that early with airtran we woukd have to fly in to MKE first. Seeing as this is the end of November. I don't think having a layover is a good idea with unkown weather. Thoughts anyone?

nope. We did it a couple years ago. Just make sure you remove the tag things they put on your luggage (as you should anyway before you go on your return flight) and you're good to go.

Ninety-nine point nine percent of the time there will be no issues with doing that. The only kinds of problems you could conceivably run into are things like if your Sun Country flight down there was cancelled and you couldn't make the trip, then Sun Country probably would work with you in terms of a refund on the return flight but Air Tran might not. Not a likely scenario, however.

Doing the exact same thing in October - Sun Country to MCO (getting in at noon) and then Airtran back (through MKE), getting back to MSP at 10pm

We've done a couple of times. Spirit down, Airtran back. No problems. Just have to remember which is which out going if they are in two different terminals. Doing it again this December - Southwest down, Delta back.

The big issue I can see is if you have to change or cancel your plans. You'll get hit with change fees from both airlines instead of one.

How often does Sun Country fly out? If your flight was cancelled for any reason, how would you get down, are there more flight options the same day? If not, remember, if you cancel your entire trip or wish to extend because of the delay, AirTran is under no obligation to do so without a change fee.

Sun country only flies out once/day. Maybe i should look at air tran both ways. They have about 10 flights out a day. But the only direct one doesnt get in until 7 pm.

we are flying delta out of laguardia in less than two weeks.

flying back on jet blue into white plains

We are doing it in September due to a Delta Schedule change....

The only thing I am doing is making sure that when I park in Central Parking I pick a spot thats close to both the Delta and Jet Blue terminals!!
