Flyblu

I wouldnt class tcd as the worst carrier to florida

my flight with virgin last november was the worst i had ever been on, dirty plane, unhelpful staff, they ran out of food for the first meal and the snack, ran out of soft drinks when we were 2 and a half hours from florida and they broke all three of our cases.

I wont fly virgin again, the planes on the manchester to florida route are the oldest in the fleet and you can tell

Just letting you know my experiance, I am going with tcd in a normal seating cabin sept 06 and I am hoping its better than the virgin flight, maybe this time we wont have to have all the hassle of last time.

Well, if we look at your complaints, mostly they could be attributed to any airline.
The Manchester Virgin flights were operated as they callk a "wet lease" i.e. the planes and crew are supplied by another company which knew they were losing the contract. These 747-200 are now being replaced by 747-400's from the virgin fleet, in fact they will be alternating Gatwick aircraft which are all fitted with the extra Premium economy seats and Upper Class suites.

Ran out of food or ran out of choice? If you have say, 200 people on a flight, you cannot carry 200 choice1, 200 choice2 and 200 choice3, that makes no economical or storage sense as they have to be thrown away at the end of the flight, so they have say for example 100 choice 1, 75 chopice 2 and 25 choice 3 meals. If you are unlucky enough to be at the end of the serving and everyone has gone for choice 1 and 2 you will only have choice 3 left.

Also, if a flight is cancelled or more passengers are boarded than the loadmaster was informed of, i.e extra passengers from another cancelled flight even from another airline, the payload will be insufficient to cover the passengers.
Its the same for soft drinks, you have to estimate the requirements, if there is a big demand over the norm for them, they will run out.
On the way back this does occure with alcohol as the flights have to take out the drink for both legs.
It does sound as if your flight was pretty full?

suitcases.
Virgin or any other airline use the services of the airports handling staff, so if the cases were damaged, it is them not Virgin who are responsible. If it was the locks were damaged and it was on the way back from Florida, it is quite possible that this was done by the TSA, who can break the locks to check the contents inside your case. However they normally do put a letter 9inside to tell you. we use TSA approved locks which they can open and re lock. We have had the letter inside so we know it works.
I take it if it was damage to the cases by loading/unloading you claimed against Virgin for these cases?

The good news is that the Virgin plane you went on from Manchester was leased from Air Atlanta. Guess who is providing the planes for TCD? Well done yes its Air Atlanta and your plane is likely to seat 520 people the next time!!!!!!!

Now you will see just how bad they can be.

This is quite right.
We have a three year old who has travelled UC every time we have flown to the uSA, which is every six months. So he has travelled 6 times now, mostly in a paid for seat.
If iI choose to spend my hard earned cash to have my son travel in UC, then that is my perogative. I have been on flights where the most obnoxious, loud and generally distruptive person is a so called "adult" who has partaken of too much falling down juice.
This is why even if Fly blu/Who ever take off, I will NEVER use them as I see their policy and of TCD as discriminatory against people with children under a certain age.
Still, its there loss of £6,000 a time and more for Virgin!

I could not agree more :-))

PS On the 15th September@ 11.15am, we will be travelling UCS in the new suites. My daughter who will be 2 years and 7 months (shock horror!) and will have her own, paid seat. You have been warned!

If I was on the same flight (may well be yet who knows) I would help you entertain the little flower :-))

We have made arrangements to re-accommodate every single passenger who had booked with us, and those flights were secure. We will be happy to hear from anyone who has not been so advised as we can still secure your travel if you move fast. Call me directly if you need further help on this matter. I am available through our reservation number on 0870 11 22 767.
================================================== ==========================

I do have to say that we have been saddened to see how people can be so quick to condemn us when they have no idea what is involved in this venture.

I had actually considered offering £200,000 per annum to anyone who can do a better job than me to get this venture started when you have to raise the money yourself, develop the team, establish the transatlantic relationships, establish secure ATOL protection, develop a trade and direct sales team with systems and a distribution network, train that team, create the aircraft lease fund, find the aircraft and contract that, establish USA license approvals (dept of trade, dept of transport, CAA and US lawyers!), engage approved maintenance contractors and managers, flight deck team, cabin crew team, design and make the uniforms, the lit and print, the catering package, develop the staff training programme, field calls from complaining people, deal with the BBC, the national and travel press and the local papers too, hire staff to help build this, relate to local and foreign suppliers, attend dinners and speak at most of them and then deal with letters of complaint from people who think you should have phoned them back a little sooner!!!

This is only a scratch on the surface of my week. Poor old me!

FlyBlu/who has been a genuine attempt to bring a little more style and comfort to your otherwise ‘hard work’ Florida travel experience. We invested huge sums in this effort (it would make you weep I promise) but we still missed the target simply because we tried too hard to secure your position and to ensure the product was perfect before we delivered it.

We will continue to work on this and continue to look forward to launching this service, but for the time being I feel I cannot even consider giving any indication when that will be.

Poor you, it must be terrible for you, forgive me if I don't break down in tears of regret for you ;-))
Thanks for coming on here and putting your side of the story, but I can assure you, I would never book with you even if you did eventualy get off the ground. Your problems and policies give no cause for confidence.

Mushumadness - I've heard a lot of good reports of TCD as well as bad! So hopefully you will get a good flight with them. :)

obviously gang up on me night, I am sorry I said anything at all.

My plane said virgin on the tail (and the lady on the frount) had virgin staff manning it (as one was off to train for virgin galactic). and the staff at check in broke the cases throwing them onto the belt to take them away before we left manchester.

I expressed what happened to me, only to have people say it cant have happened that way, when it did.

I dont feel welcome here at all, I will stay away if thats how people feel

oh and the food ran out they didnt run out of one choice but all choices,

it doesnt matter to me either as to how many people the plane carrys

Anna - just like you, I would have assumed if it said Virgin, it was Virgin too! Quite right that you were expressing what happened to you.

Please don't let what one person has said make you stay away!

My comments were to get to the bottom of what she had siad, also to explain what can happen.
It was not a critisim of what she had to say, I am sorry that she felt so sensative to take such comments as such.
I also asked if she had claimed against Virgin for the suitcases, and what can happen with the TSA.

None of the comments were "ganging up" Two people explained that the planes were wet leased and were being replaced, I am amazed that this is how it was perceived!

Obi Wan Kenobi,

My post was not specifically directed at you!

Anna offered up her experience and felt others put down that experience. What I was trying to say (badly, it would seem) was that she should not feel unwelcome because of a random post (or two or three)

Be well :)
