I was going to book my late fall flights and I can get a great price down with westjet and a ok price back with Air Canada.

I tried booking this on travelocity and as soon as I pick the Westjet flight the Air Canada stuff disappears:confused3

Does anyone know if there is a "legal" reason I would not be able to fly in and out of the US with 2 different Canadian carriers?

Thank you
Kim

The pricing you saw for Air Canada through that site was likely based on an Air Canada purchase on the outgoing flight.
Take a look at one way fares to see if those same prices pop up. If so, grab them that way.:)

Book direct with the airlines. We flew down on Westjet and back on Air Canada when we were down in February. No issues, other then we realized how much more we prefer Air Canada. :goodvibes

I just did this! Booked our flight down with Westjet when there was a seat sale and just bought my return flight on Air Canada yesterday when they had a price drop.

I've done it many times. I book directly with the airlines. I think if you check with online TA like Travelocity or Expedia, the system will only offer return trips with partner airlines. :confused3

This past Feb, I only wanted to fly Westjet, but the Westjet flight to orlando was too late in the day so I book the return trip with Westjet and decided to book Air Canada to Orlando (even though I told my self that this was my last resort - and it was - there was only two airlines that were flying direct at the time). Actually, Air Transat/Canjet do have direct flights at that time but I didn't want to wait for their schedule to come out.

We booked one-way departing flights with US Air from Bangor to MCO and one-way return flights from Sanford to Bangor with Allegiant. Allegiant doesn't fly down the day we wanted to leave plus you can't use ME for Allegiant which is just too important to us to miss out on. It was more work and I'm not sure that we actually saved much $$ than if we'd booked return flights with US Air but it's nice to have everything booked. ::yes::

It depends on the web site. Expedia.ca will allow you to mix and match airlines.

Travel Agencies (including sites like Expedia or Travelocity) can only issue multiple airlines on one ticket if the airlines have an interline ticket agreement with each other.

WestJet only has such agreements with Delta, American, KLM/AF, and Cathay Pacific. So you can't combine Air Canada and WestJet on a single ticket.

You can get around this by booking two one-way tickets instead of a round trip - or rarely by booking through a third airline that has an interline ticket agreement with the other two.

I bought a one-way ticket on Continental and a one-way ticket on WestJet for my upcoming trip. Nothing wrong with doing that.
