I just called to make a cash reservation for my dad/mom and sister and her family through DVC member services. I wanted a 2 br villa at BWV and after I had received the quote, the DVC reservasionist asked me if I was aware of the new pricing policy that went into affect on 1/1/08. I said no. She proceeded to tell me that the price of $596/night could not be guaranteed and may change based on the day of the week and the season. I asked if there was anything that I could do to guarantee the rate for the entire stay, such as pay in advance, etc and she said no. I haven't heard of you booking a room for one price and then when you get there it may be a different price. Has anyone had any experience with cash ressies and the price changing?????? I just don't want my family to end up paying $700/night when we were quoted $596/night.

I just called back to talk to another reservasionist at DVC. I questioned her about what the previous lady had told me about fluctuating rates and she said that the rates will NOT change and they are guaranteed at the rate I booked them at. I am not sure what happened during my first conversation with DVC but am so glad I got it cleared up. Sorry for the post.

WDW resort cash rates are changing this year depending on seasons and days of the week but I'd imagine the price you were quoted already took that into account. I can't imagine your rate would be changing once you arrived.

This new policy is something that just started but I'm sure they already have all of the rates loaded for this year.

I think what she may have been trying to explain to you (but not very well) is that now each night can be a different rate.

In the "old days" if you booked a trip and the 1st nt was value season and the rest of the trip was premiere (dream,adventure.....) you would pay the value season rate for the whole trip. Now you'll pay more on weekends & if seasons change while you're there, those nts will me more/less.

Hope that makes sense :goodvibes

If you or someone in the group is an AP holder, you might get a better deal. Currently AP rates for DVC is 40% off rack rates and you get daily housekeeping. The rate depends on when you are going.

The AP rates are not always available. You could book with DVC at the $595 rate, note the member 25% discount is not always available, then if the AP rate is available, at 40% off = $477

I thought the member had to stay in the room if you got a member discount.

They do. And they did ask for my membership card at Vero when we stayed there on the 25% discount awhile back. MS again reminded me to have my card when we check in next month. We are paying cash for the weekend nights.

Actually what they were probably explaining is that the 2009 rates have not come out yet. I spoke to a supervisor and they do not want anyone to book on cash for 2009 until they get the rates in the system. The rates in the system were the Christmas rates (highest rates) and they will change. The supervisor said that not that all of the guides have not been told not to book any cash rooms for 2009. They said keep trying back later in the month. I got this information yesterday.

I also though that getting an AP rate meant no linking of ressies to a points ressie. We have cash nights at the end of our OKW stay got a DVC discount this summer. If AP rates come out.....are they available for 2br and would we have to move rooms???? Thanks.
