Home with the flu....chicken soup would be great!
So much for the flu shot I got...I guess if I had NOT gotten it I may be a lot sicker??

I have my Nyquil cold and flu now so hopefully that will help me ride out the weekend.

Remember people...wash hands and cover your sneezes and coughs!!

Around here, all of the flu that is being seen is H1N1, which is not part of the seasonal flu shot. DD was just diagnosed with it. It is spreading like wildfire. At DS's elementary school, lots of children out, so far only 1 who had to be hospitalized (had pre-existing conditions).

So far, DD seems to be weathering it well. In fact, if she had this last year, I probably would not have even taken her to the doctor.

I work in an elementary school and from what I heard there were 55 kids out...staff out and more sent home.

Not a good time to be working in such an environment.

I went to the grocery store with my 8 month old daughter yesterday and ran into a friend who is a nurse and was purchasing supplies for her daughter who was home sick with the flu. As I'm slowly trying to back away, she starts talking to my daughter and touches her hands. That makes me so mad! If you or your family is sick, please don't touch my daughters hands!! She's constantly sucking on them and is going to get whatever you have. Especially if you hare a nurse and should have some concept of disease control. I had to sneek into another section of the store to spread antibactrial all over her little hands! Grrrr!!

Both my kids have had it already. One sent home from college for a week and two weeks later the other home 5 days from high school. Then I got the stomach bug! UGH It's gonna be a tough one this year - everybody use your hand sanitizer and stay home if your sick!

And then wash your hands again!! Way to many people don't wash their hands long enough to be effective. Its taken me ~3 weeks for this thing to pass completely.

In Canada no one has been able to get the H1N1 shot yet. It will be available come November. There is a big debate going on. Some Doctors are telling folks to get the shot some are advising against it. We have a different type of Flu shot here that has not gone through the testing that yours has and it was only tested a few months on very few people. So the result of that is they really don't know what the long term side effects are, leaving lots of folks undecided.
