There was a post on Friday about a flu that caused about 1500 kids to be sick. Was this just in that area or is the flu bug making its way around? Just want to be prepared.

The one in NJ?? I thought they said that was the Norwalk virus....

We had something going around my school the 2 weeks before February vacation week. Low grade fever, severe headache, body aches, and stomache cramps. The absent list was usually 1 1/2 pages every day. I'm hoping the week off has cleared out most of the germs when we go back tomorrow!

When it starts in an area it's all over the area quick as a wink!

2 of my 5 kids had it this week and we were on school vacation!

The one that shut down the school wasn't the flu. It's the norovirus. It's a stomach virus. It's spreading like crazy from what I've read. Apparently it's not airborn. People need to wash their hands more frequently.

My experience with the norovirus was to disinfect until your hands are raw! I used latex gloves when cleaning up after my son and washed my hands like crazy after touching something he touched. It worked because I never got it.

The norovirus and influenza are two completely different things.

My son currently has Influenza Type "A" confirmed through our Ped. office. It's nothing more than a bad cold for my 15 y.o. She said the really bad flu is Type "B." :confused3
