Flu Shots recalled!!!!

I just called my Dr to make an appt to get my annual flu shot and they just told me that they were RECALLED!!!! And they don't know when they will be able to get anymore! So, I called our state health Dept cause they give them free, and they aren't going to have any till end of Oct or beginning of Nov! What is up with that? Heck, I can have the flu 3 x's by then!!!!

Yep,

Just heard on the news about the major flu vaccine shortage this year. Too bad. Shots are going to be rationed out to those who really need it.

Hmmmm. I just called the health dept. because DD5 needs her kindergarten shots (I forgot!) and I also asked about the flu shot. They don't have them yet but local clinics and grocery stores have already started. She wasn't sure why they don't have theirs yet. Guess we should watch the news!
She also said they aren't expecting a shortage this year.
DS11 has asthma so we can get the note from his doc and get the whole family shots for free at the health dept. Even last year when they were running out badly, my kids were able to get theirs.

Basically a company that sells them to us had a problem.

Chiron Corp. won't sell any flu shots in the U.S. this season because U.K. regulators shut down its only manufacturing plant, raising the threat of shortages for a second year in a row. Chiron shares slid as much as 36 percent.

Aventis is right down the road from me and so far we haven't heard of any shortages this year. I'm getting mine in three weeks.

For the ages of 6 months to 2 years or so, they said there is no shortage for this group.

The shortage is for the people out of this group. Two different suppliers, just fyi.
