Flu hits our house...it wasn’t flu, bronchitis

Yes we have insurance, but it’s a disappointment. Yes, we both got the senior flu shot...did not work last year either.

All 4 or us have some virus variation from upper respiratory in my wife and daughter in law to stomach problems with me and our son. We leave for Disney next week for marathon week and my training has completely stopped. We have not made plans to cancel.....yet.

Did you get a flu swab?
I have 2 friends diagnosed with the flu (no swab) that ended up in the ER by the next day because their cough was sooo bad. The ER swabbed them and it was negative for flu. I find that interesting and am just curious now about all this diagnosing the flu without swabbing for it.

We were in WDW last week and there was a LOT of coughing going on. My DH got sick early on, my DD20 later in the week, and me upon returning home. However, it's not the flu, just a bad cold.

Also curious, is it the insurance thru DVC that you have? What is it covering? I didn't purchase insurance this trip, but may next time.

PS: My DH got sick both of our last Disney trips. It is such a bummer. I totally sympathize. Get well soon!

So sorry this has happened. This is always my fear of going in December. I was sick last week when we were there. I teach and am around kids all the time. I'm never sick. But of course a couple of days before the trip, I started getting a scratchy throat. While on the trip, I felt fine during the day but coughed every night to the point we couldn't sleep. I guess my immunity was down because of that, and I ended up getting a severe stomach virus five hours after returning home. This will definitely make me more antsy about booking winter trips in the future. (Going Thanksgiving next year and hoping that's not too far into cold season!)

We leave in 2 weeks, and we are sick here too. But since trip is a couple weeks away, I felt like, "Bring it on now!"

Not the flu here, but started with a sore throat that was as severe as my worst ever strep throat (swab negative). I was literally laying in bed, awake all night with it, feeling like I needed to go to the ER. Realized that is CRAZY but I could not even swallow saliva (sorry!) 2 weeks later, I am still coughing, but it is more from choking on post nasal drip. DH just got sick 2 days ago.

I am mentally ready for my vacation! Just not physically.

It’s not flu, but bronchitis, pre pneumonia....the medicines are doing their jobs. We both slept more and I can breathe! I was able to move our post cruise stay at VB to February which will be a welcomed reprieve from Cape May winter!

We are in our 70’s and get insurance early to cover pre conditions! Never expected this.

Just want to rest. Tom and I are both improving. We slept in different rooms last night, and Gus, our dog, spent much of the night going back and forth from rooms. He will be happy when things are back to normal, too!

Sending you prayers for a speedy recovery. My DM gets walking pneumonia literally every winter (sometimes more than once) & it’s no joke. Lots of rest and fluids.
