i want to send flowers to my sister in canada but all the websites i've checked (ftd, 1800 flowers, hallmark) don't deliver to canada. any advice?

I don't understand why the FTD website doesn't deliver. That is why they exist (florist transworld delivery)

I would go into a florist shop that has the FTD sign and have them wire your order to Canada.
Some florist shops have their own websites where you could leave your order. If you know the name of any local florist stores near your sister, check to see if they have a website.

Hey Von,

Try posting this on the Canadian visitors board. I bet someone over there can help you out.

Hi from Canada, Von! Yes, you should absolutely be able to send by FTD... a lot of our florists have FTD here.

Or, you could even find a florist directly which sometimes can be cheaper than using FTD. If you go to www.411.ca and then click on "find a business" and then type in "florist" as the 'type of business' and enter the city info, you can basically search the yellow pages of that city for local florists, and it will also bring up web pages for the florists if available.

Another website that sends flowers in Canada (but I've never used it) is http://www.flowermarkets.ca/ which actually is more of a grocery store type flower service. They only deliver in specific areas though (mostly southeastern Ontario I think?) since that's where those grocery stores are.

If it was me I might try the second idea, of finding a florist directly, but whatever you do, good luck!

Whereabouts is your sister located?

I live in Toronto and I hate to pay the extra fees associated with using a flower "service". I usually find a florist in the city (go on internet) and call them direct and pay with credit card. Have never had a problem with them taking my credit card over the phone. If you are sending them to the Toronto area, I can help you find a respectable florist. I also find that if you talk directly to the Canadian florist, your credit card is charged in Cdn dollars and you'll get a great exchange rate...probably lower than paying in USD in the US.

The majority of flower services on the internet use local florists anyways so I'm not sure why you are having trouble. For example you live in Phoenix but want to send flowers to Ottawa. Well the service processes your order and has a local florist in Ottawa deliver the goods. The online service just acts as a venue. Like others have mentioned your best bet is to contact a local florist in the area of delivery that you want.
